It's really not that bad. They just put on a cable 1/2" shorter than standard so it made the minimum draw length over 1" longer and I needed it set to the minimum. It also killed the cam timing. Not possible to fix with twisting the cables. what I was wondering is should I just get them to get me a new cable so that my bow works or should I spend some money and get all new custom strings from something that won't creep. I target shoot so that's important. My strings right now are 3 different brands and all of low quality and are all a little old and frayed. I was wondering if it would be a better investment to get new strings of spend the cash on a better scope or stabilizers or finally get a back tension release.(i'm using walmart calipers;)) P.S. It's a Hoyt ultratec xt2000 black. (what color strings would look good, i would think balck/blue). Thanks for any help.

i just measured my cables and even though it was supposed to have a bus cable 39.75" they put in one marked 39.25" but i measured it and it's less than 39". 3/4 of an inch difference is unacceptable. even if it did stretch 1/4 of an inch to match what it should be it'd still be way to short. I think I'll return that cable and order some custom strings from korbins custom strings. For a full set of 452x cables with halo servings it's only $50!! Sound good, does anyone have experience?

Honestly, the hardware on a bow is usually pretty sound for a lot longer than most of us would like to admit but strings and cables are a pretty cheap purchase to keep your other parts functioning as they should. I would definitely spring for new cables/string if it's in the budget. I usually change mine every 2-3 seasons.

Does anyone know the official way to measure string length? You are supposed to measure it under tension but where do I measure it to? Do I measure the farthest points of the string(outside of the loop), the inside of the loop, the center of the dowel that holds it? Thanks in advance.

The top inside side of the loop. I also for some reason remember it having to be on a certain size peg, I think it was 1/4".

How far off are the new cables vs. the correct length?

They replaced the cable with the closest thing they had which was 39.5 (which is still .25" short) It's good enough for now but I'm ordering custom strings today. The draw length is still too long but the bus cable is .25" short and the main string is .5" long. When those are set to factory standards the draw length will be at least .5" shorter and the cam timing will be fixed. Is this right? lengthening a cable and shortening the main string will both reduce draw length?
