Will, the hunt and write up were BOTH phenomenal. I can't wait to finally meet you in November.

I also have to thank you for all the advice/knowledge you have sent my way over the past year. It's awesome having a one stop online friend when it comes to ANY hunting questions as you have literally been there done that with nearly ALL of my future hunting plans/dreams.

Expect that phone call within the next few weeks!

You didn't miss it. We go by squared hide measurement and skull size up here. Weight doesn't really mean that much since a huge spring bear will only weigh half of what a medium fall bear weighs. We didn't get a good measurement on the hide either before Will got it fleshed and salted but I'm figuring it was between 6 1/2 and 7 ft. based on other bears we've taken and it probably weighed a bit over 200# which is huge for a fresh out of the den bear. Will didn't mention that it was missing half of it's front teeth and one of it's canine's was worn in half. It must've been an old bear. Unfortunately ADF&G was closed the day we got in so we couldn't get it aged.

    IDW,

The bear collapsed about eight yards, in the trees, from the edge of a clearing. I tried with everything I could muster to extract the bruin from the forest. My solo effort was a waste of time...the bear was that big. When I skinned the carass, the bear still had a solid two inches of fat across his entire body. I'm sure he could have stayed in his den for another six months. It was obvious the bear ate well on POW. The ADF&G will send me information on the bear's approximate age. I'm curious...

I'll spend tomorrow editing the video of Rob's bear...watch for that.

    I have been there.

It was a pleasure Tony. I went into this hunt knowing that it had to be shared. I only wish my words could have completely captured the things I experienced. I was at peace here.

    IDW, I know.

Trevor, I look foreward to that day! Keep making those plans/dreams! More important, make sure you experience them all during the day!

Thanks Ryan, where there's a will, there's a way. Plan, save, execute! Work hard...hunt hard.

Steve, we had bear back strap stew the evening of the kill. It was to die for! This bear was unlike any I have ever tasted.

Cooter, I have had one article published (they came to me, I didn't go to them). I write to share with friends/family and to remember the events down the road. This account was easy. I had 20 hours of daylight and several days of down time on my hands. Thank goodness I had pen and paper along on this trip.

GR8, Make it your goal to meet Rob. Rob is a more than a man among men! I learned a lot being with him...I hope to learn more.

Russ, YES! And hopefully I will be able to go the distance this time. It is my desire to move towards traditional gear, and have the complete confidence to use it.

Thanks everyone for the kind words and well wishes.

    Rob, I owe you.

You really don't Will, and neither would any of the rest of you guys if you'd get up here! I met my goals on the trip, made a great friend and had an awesome time doing it. What more could anyone ask for?

If you're really feeling burdened by your sense of responsibility then get me some info on that asiatic buffalo hunt in Australia and maybe I'll let you make it up to me. ;):d

Just sat down and read the whole thing (that's the most time I've dedicated to reading in months, lol), and it was worth it! What a story! The pictures are amazing. The quotes are great as well. Simply well put together, and well written. I felt like I was there (I WISH I was there). Congrats on the bear!
