We have had four of these out for about four months. The last couple times we have checked them we have noticed that half of the day time pictures are black and white. I was wondering if anyone has had this happen and what it means. It still takes pictures, just curious as to why it is happening. Thanks.
It could be just that at the given times it's not bright enough to trigger daytime color shots....canopy cover/overcast clouds/time of day all play a factor. We've had this happen occasionally with some of our cams, but not a lot.
I had a Wildgame cam that did the same thing sometimes right at dusk & dawn when the light was in between.
that second picture in color explains alot...its so damn dark, the camera is switching to IR mode. thats one hell of a tree canopy!!
That is what I am trying to figure out. The pictures are only two minutes apart and the later one is in color.
Most likely a cloud passed over at that moment. Looks like you do have heavy shade to begin with too. I think it's fairly normal for the pics to toggle between color and b/w when the light is dim.
I never gave it a thought that it may just be switching modes like that. Although I think we have on a pole-line in the open that is doing the same thing, I will have to check it again this weekend to see if it actually is.
