Are these calls effective for calling in doe or are they used more for calling in bucks? I bought one last year and used it throughout the season. I think it worked on a doe but, it could have just been coincidence. Not sure. All I know is I was hunting the narrow part of a pasture that is surrounded by woods. She came to the edge like she was going to cross and this is a popular crossing area for the deer. then stopped and started to turn. I hit the call and she stopped. waited a second then came out into the opening. I harvested her about 20 seconds later. I am still not sure if it was the call or what exactly caused her to turn back my way.
I have called in does early in the season here with a can call I will not go in the woods prerut without my can call
I love the can call, i've called in many doe and bucks, including the deer I shot last fall. Works great.
I take it she must have been responding to the can then? Thats great to know. I will be using it next season as well then.
I am in same boat with the others. I have called in does and bucks. I have three cans: Original Can, Large Can, and the Long Can. They all three go with me into the woods year round!
not sure the best way, i just keep mine on me in my harness so i can get at it quick. in MN hunted with a guy who use some rig with a string. the can was at the base of his tree and he could pull on the string and make the can flip over! let the string go and it would "reset" itself. said it kept the sound away from his treestand and on the ground where the deer were.
I've had a couple since they came out... honestly, I could take it or leave it. Most of the time, I leave it.
I've called in thousands of deer with the can. Everytime I turn it over, I get run over by booners. I'd highly recommend it.
