FYI for all you Primers... get a good aftermarket string stop. Seriously. I just got my Bowrattler in today and shot all afternoon with it. It made my Rize absolutely sick. Hands down the best 30 bucks for these bows. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Sure. I really like the clean look of the Bowrattler compared to others. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Figure out with the best DL and let-off with these PCX cams, then start looking for PCXL's. If you are like me (and most), it will make a very good bow and great bow. Congrats on your Prime....
Thank you, sir! The PCXL #5's are what I need... can't find any at the moment, but I'm a patient guy. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I saw one on AT I thought of picking up to play with to see the hype, but the draw specific cams, and the issue of them measuring long makes for a lot of uncertainty. Sounds like a lot of people like them.
muzzyman, So it really made that much of a difference? Might have to get one. I got the Rize spec tuned and back up to weight, timed cams etc. I did call the nearest Prime Dealer and they order me some of the yolk dampeners, so waiting on them. I got the Obsession back this weekend and will shoot them both side by side and see which one Like both. The Obsession is quiet and fast but I think I prefer the feel of the Prime. Time will tell.
if you plan on shooting at 85% let off just get 1/2" short then your dl. once you own a prime you will see a diff
Yes, it absolutely made a big difference on mine, especially sound wise. Before, even plucking the string hard, you could hear and tell it would have a metallic ting noise at the shot. With the Bowrattler, none. Again, these bows are very quiet, its just a different sound than what we're used to.
I agree. Its a bit of a PITA and it took me a second trip to the shop to have the cams swapped. I'm actually close to a 30" draw (to the loop), but shoot and hunt better a 1/2" short. So, usually a 29" bow fits me great and gives me a bit of play room with loop length to get it just right. On the Prime's, the Rize in particular, the cams measure 1/2" long at the given draw length, especially at max let off. The second trip to the shop sucked for me as I bought the bow 2 hours away at Lancaster Archery. But, its good now and well worth getting it right for you. Its proven to be a tack driver and very, very comfortable to shoot.
You can twist up the cables and strings and shorten the draw length a little bit if need be. I know this is an obvious statement but some people don't think about that for some reason. I got mine at 27 and it seemed to be very close to what I was used too.
Ordered one this morning. Out of curiosity what was your measurement in the Rize from the mounting hole and string? Also how much can you adjust the rattler?
Really curious, how many are shooting at 85% let off and how many are shooting less? I'm shooting with the draw stop about 1/3 of the way through, guessing its under 75%. I had the pcxl #5 and #4 and had them at the same draw length and greatly preferred the lower let off.
I have always felt with the higher let off I get sloppy with my form and getting a crisp release. I hadn't shot more than a couple times with a bow with a limb stop so I figured I would give the higher let off a try since that back wall was solid and maybe it was different pulling against. I did shoot it well for a bow with a high let off but I shot the low let off better. Also I feel it allows for a little more tuning than the high let off. It comes down to which one I can keep my form more consistent every time and I get lazy with the easier hold
With the 28.5" cams, mine came in dead nuts 29". The stops were set just shy of maxed out on the last mark before being maxed out. (there are 3 marks for let off, mine was on last mark before bottoming out for max let off). As for the Bow Rattlers, there is probably 3" of adjustment on it.
