I began researching bows and all the parts months ago. I had a goal of getting a real smooth shooting bow and set it at 60lbs. I've only ever shot 70lbs. I didn't want the bow to feel jumpy and add to my already jumpy and energetic personality. Lol. I also wanted to switch my release up after almost 20 yrs of shooting a finger release. I have a strong trigger finger and feel like I've been punching the trigger for years. In fact, I feel more comfortable when releasing an arrow from my recurve bow. So I switched to a Hot Shot Vapor 4 finger release. Been using it a few weeks on my old bow in anticipation of getting a new bow. Took me a lot of reps to get comfortable with it. I got a new Bear BR33 bow set at 29 inches and 60 lbs. I put on a single pin sight (Trophy Ridge Clutch) and a Qad ultra rest hdx. I like things simple. The bow holds tight at full draw and I don't feel like it is gonna jump out of my hands on the release. That combined with thumb release makes me feel a lot more confident in my shot mechanics on the release. They say confidence is everything. ..we shall see. I have new arrows on the way and plan on beefing them up to about 450 grains. So far the bow sounds extremely quiet and with only 2 days worth of shooting, I'm feeling pretty good with my single pin set at 25 yards. Sent from my SCH-I545 using Bowhunting.com Forums mobile app
Keep up the practice with the single-pin and you will be able to shoot out to 30-35 without moving the pin. Congrats on the new bow. Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
Sweet rig brother!! And kudos for taking the initiative to mix things up a bit. Confidence is key! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Congrats on the new bow! It can really help with confidence come deer season. After the first deer you shoot with it, your really going to love it!
30, 35, and 40 with the single pin sight today. Pulled the 40 but still pleased. Really happy with this new Bear br33 bow. Quite honestly, I hunted with low end bows for so long that when I received this average level bow I felt amazed how much better it felt as compared to those other bows. Very happy I went down to 60 lbs as well. Easy to draw and no shock that I can feel. Pin set at 25 yds and I just estimated pin distance at the above distances. Nice! My dad is a super frugal guy (and extremely proud of it! Lol). Years ago, I talked him into upgrading from his Reflex Bighorn to a Mathews DXT... I'll never forget the look of awe that came over him when he shot that DXT for the first time. He had no idea what he was missing all those years, until that first shot. Hahaha. I had a Reflex Excursion that I used for like 10 yrs...killed a lot of deer with it. $150 killer. Hahaha. I have a hard time buying crap..my wife wants to slap me. I have ptsd from the economy fall out from 2007. Lol Sent from my SCH-I545 using Bowhunting.com Forums mobile app
LOL!! Dude, you sound just like him. He was blown away when I ponied up the "big bucks" for my '06 Allegiance. He was so proud of killing a ton of critters with $200 ready-to-hunt, catalog bow, but he was also amazed at the speed, accuracy & especially the silence of my Alle... So I asked him why in the hail he'd spend $4k per season to travel and hunt places like Alaska & Montana, yet wouldn't spend 6 or 800 on a quality rig to hunt with? It just made zero sense. He test shot that DXT one time and his whole world changed in an instant! He still thanks me to this day lol. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
That br33 is really a shooter. I picked one up earlier this year and love it! Busted a nock with a field point at 50 yards this afternoon Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G920A using Bowhunting.com Forums mobile app
Congrats man, that's a nice looking bow. I hunted with a cheapo department store Bear Element from 2007-2012 so I know the feeling of shooting a low end bow. My nephew is still hunting with that Element though.
You know come to think of it I have never heard somebody say I bought a new bow and it sucks, I hate shooting it.
