As a hockey player as well as my son I looked at the hit frame by frame in the video. It was a clean body check with the shoulder no elbows at least from the angle of this video. I'm guessing the skater hitting his head onthe ice caused the concussion. Late hit, Nope the shooter was still following through with his shot when he got lit up.

Number 24 of the white team should have gotten a cross check call for retaliating and dumping the opposing player onto his injured team mate.

Not knowing the injured kid I'll give him the benifit of doubt and say this is an over reaction of the parent/s. if this makes it to court it will be the end of high school sports.

Frivolous lawsuits are getting out of hand. Wish a system would be put in place that after the court case gets dismissed the plaintiffs should be fined! These lawsuits won't ever stop unless a consequence is enforced.

agreed. you bring this kind of b.s. case to court, you lose, you pay. but that would probably be to simple to figure out.

Dmen totally agree with ya ha ha Mass is full of them. And on your second point if this kid was normal at all his life is ruined the other kids in the school are probably taunting him big time. If this was my parents when I was in high school I would disown them. Its humiliating!!!!!! We don't know what the kid thinks about this but he is probably begging his parents to withdraw the whole thing but sorry the damage has been done. Too late you are known throughout the country now because your parents are sueing for a hard hit in hockey....JOKE!!!!!

Ruff I said the samething to my buddy when we watched the video that 24 should of got the penalty for a late hit!!!!I actually played these 2 teams in high school they are a few towns over and there were hits like this in every game. I dont know if its just different these days where everyone is babied growing up or we just got away with more back then I dont know??? But this case is judt unreal and I cant wait to see what happens it was one of the top stories on the local news so it should be on the news or in local papers when they come to an outcome...I CANT WAIT!!!

If I was a coach gonna play against him after it is all over soon as he hit the ice I would pull the entire team off the ice. Soon as he goes off return to playing. Can't tell him he can't play but surely can have your kids not play. Instead of boycotting his team just boycott him!

IMHO - not a late hit...arms weren't raised at contact(slow the vid down you'll see - arms don't come up to head level til the punk is falling down already)...I made that hit a thousand times - the D-man has as much right to that space on the ice as the guy not looking where he is going. He doesn't have to dance around to avoid contact which wasn't late to begin with(you get 2 seconds). Stupid kid, stupid parents, and stupid lawsuit.

Hope once this is thrown out of court someone cross checks both of those parents! And if needed maybe the grandparents!

    Here ya' go.

An attorney, cross-examining the local coroner, queried, "Before you signed the death certificate had you taken the man's pulse?"

    "No," the coroner replied.

"Well, then, did you listen for a heart beat?"

    The coroner answered, "No."

"Did you check for respiration? Breathing?", asked the attorney.

    Again the coroner replied, "No."

"Ah," the attorney said, "So when you signed the death certificate you had not taken any steps to make sure the man was dead, had you?"

The coroner rolled his eyes, and shot back "Counselor, at the time I signed the death certificate the man's brain was sitting in a jar on my desk.

But he could have been alive?

Yes, I can see your point quipped the coroner and for all I know he could have been out there practicing law somewhere."

I was speaking at a country church of about 200 members once and told a lawyer joke... Everyone laughed and after the laughter died down I commented that I sure hope there are no lawyers here today.

Then I heard a voice from the back of the church: " Fine time to ask now buddy!"

Agreed except I would just not schedule to play his team. He is not pressing the charges, his parents are. When they drop charges and or suit... AND publicly acknowledge their over-reaction, then life can continue as normal. Either way, the kid is going to have a tough time fitting in.
