    I appreciate the replies guys.

At least this year I am trying to be prepared if it happens. The last two years I hadn't even considered this aspect of hunting velvet bucks.

This weekend is the opener in Kentucky and with my brother being out of town I will be totally alone. There is a really good processor/taxidermist less than an hour from where I'll be hunting. I've already called him and he gave me his cell number and said that if I did get one and the shop was closed just call him and he would meet me there.

My brother will be out of town this weekend which means I'll be on my own, so in the event I do get lucky and connect I've still got to figure out exactly how I'm going to manage to get a big buck with velvet antlers out of the woods and to the taxidermist by myself.

Definitely get it caped quick and in the freezer as gently as possible if you cannot get it right to the taxidermist.
I had to freeze mine for 2 days before I could get the deer 2.5 hours to the guy who did mine.
