Ever done a preseason sit in your stand ? Bacially, a mock hunt.

Reason I ask, is Ive considered doing so with one of my boys to give em a feel for the adrenalin of a deer walking into the kill zone before he's actually armed & ready.

Bad idea or good idea ?

I do it every once in a while. Most of my stands are on feild edges though so I can sit off at distance and scout that way. I wouldn't see a problem with it.

I did it last year, not doing a mock sit this year just because I haven't had any time. It shouldn't cause a problem.

In your situation I would think about it. If you're chasing mature deer you're burning bridges.

I have done it a few times. I just don't like to get to deep into the woods I will try to sit in some of my stands on field edges so I can glass.

Going out this afternoon to see if the deer are moving, just a relaxing time in the woods.
