Does the state you live in have preference points for draw hunts?

None here in Oklahoma, but it seems like all the other states I generally hunt do have preference points... kind of a bummer sometimes.

I actually like the bonus point system but despise PPs. With PPs, it is solely who has more...atleast with BPs everyone has a chance. I started out with points only for AZ, UT, WY, and CO for a variety of animals a few years back...in hopes to have a solid number of points available when I graduate pharmacy school and can actually afford such trips. I should be able to get into basically any archery deer unit I want, and some decent Elk units with that amount. The sheep I will build for life in hopes that I draw before I die.

If there have to be points, I'm happy to have bonus points... not so much on the preferences. Wyoming has gone to a preference point system but allocates 25% of their tags for a "random draw." This was done after several years of a full preference point system and lots of people quit putting in because if you miss a year or two, you'd never draw.

drawing tags sux! it overloads the wrc w/ bull crap paper work.we as hunters have the technology and the know how to manage and take care of the animals we hunt and enjoy.thank god its not like that where i live. folks where that is the case need to question the true #'s of the animal pop.they are hunting b/c those numbers are a product of guesstimation not true #'s plus its taking money away from your local and state economy by not being able to sale to those potential hunters.

In Wisconsin there are preference points for black bear and spring turkey. No preference points are needed for deer.

They added "points" to our elk tag drawing. At first everyone had the same odds. A couple years in they started keeping track & you got a bonus point for every year you entered. Our odds of drawing are so slim, a guy could put in every year for the rest of his life & never get drawn. So it's not really a matter of "you need X amount of points" to get drawn, its all still pretty random.

Technically yes, Kansas does have PP for deer. But I'm not sure why as everybody that applied for a tag last year got one! :(

I agree Dubs, PPs kind of suck. I see their intention, but the reality is that the draws are so popular now that you literally have zero chance of drawing in your lifetime for a lot of the draws. Atleast with BPs, they leave you that tiny sliver of hope that it could be you. LOL

We have them here in Maine for Moose, I have yet to draw but the points accumalate every year you put in, but if you don't put in 1 year you will use all of your built up points.

I hope everyone draws again this year as well so I can stop wondering if I will draw or not.
