I think i finally have enough money saved up that i can buy some predator camo clothing. I am thinking about getting the Unlined jacket and the lined bibs for the late season. I am just not sure of the color. I was pretty set on Fall Gray but thinking now i am not %100. I have one property that is for sure %90 tree stand hunting that Fall Gray would work very well...I have seen a few deer but nothing big. The thing i have been thinking about and the problem is the other property. It is about %60 Pine trees and has a lot of bucks and a few big ones. I was thinking that if i wore the Fall Gray in the pines that i would stick out like a sore thumb.(A green back ground with a gray dot is obvious). Since it is %60 pines i will obviously have to be on the ground, instead of in a stand. Any options about color selection would be helpful!
I wear Fall Grey at all times of the year. I am spending most of my time in trees, but if I am on the ground I use a blind and just wear black.
I think that fall gray or deception brown would work for both of your situations. I am thinking about getting all deception brown camo that I would be using for hunting from a tree stand, from the ground in badlands areas and in the Rocky Mountains. From that I have seen it seems to be a very diverse camo. Both should work for you though.
Last season I used fall gray from start to finish with multiple smaller bucks passing at 10 yards. Greg MO put together a whole article on predator camo on AT. I belive if you search here there is a link to it. Predator camo is so effective because of the open pattern its not made to look like anything its designed to break you up. The ultimate hook for me was when I had 23 turkeys walk by and bust my movement but the second i stopped moving they lost me. I popped off two shots and they just walked away. BUY PREDATOR ITS THE BEST
Yeh even in pine trees fall grey just looks like the sky behind you no body pattern.. I hunt alot of pines hunting here in Michigan and my fall grey works everytime.. You can't go wrong..
I live and hunting in Northern Idaho. The mountains here are covered with Coniferious trees. ALL GREEN. The predator I use works great like Walt said, even in pines it breaks you up. I love it. I have green deception, brown decp and fall grey..
Here ya go... questions like yours were the reason I compiled this thread a few years ago. Hopefully you'll find it helpful in your decision-making process; good luck! http://www.huntingnet.com/forum/bowhunting/213556-predator-camo-pics-youve-asked-last-two-years.html
Fall Gray is the way to go. Deer don't see colors, and Fall Gray breaks up your outline better in all conditions / times of year IMO.
