    Hey guys,

Just wanted to know if anyone is doing some predator control around there property. How much luck have you guys had? And any tips for a newbie doing it with a bow? And if you used a call of any sort what did you use?

    Thanks for the help guys!:D

Not hunting them with a bow here !! But it could be done !! I have a fox pro caller it does all the hard work ! But mouth calls are easy enough to use as well!! A simple rabbit in distress call should do the trick!! Don't just blow air through it !! Put some emotion in your calling and really sound like a dying rabbit!! Call on and off for 25-30 mins and hold still!! This late in the year after the coyotes have heard all of the dying rabbit calls they can get a little call shy so that's where my fox pro is handy !! I can use other distress sounds that the coyotes probally have not heard another hunter use yet!! If you really want to manage some predators use a rifle or shotgun gun if your just trying to have some fun and possibly kill a coyote or two with your bow have at it! I'm sure if would be something to brag about!! Hope this helps someone out a little !

we don't use bows around here either. we go out pretty much every weekend around here with 3-10 guys and push all the properties we have permission to, usually get a few every day we go out. we just "dog" them out of the bushes and have "posters" in the fence lines where they normally run and that has been working for us for years now. if you want to use bow, last year i baited for them, but you might want to move your treestand away from your prime hunting spot and then bait them in your new stand location, good luck! kill them critters!

Fox Pro user here too. Get yourself one. Best e call for the money really. I got a spitfire off amazon for like 150. Couple that with an AR15, and coyotes are easy pickens. Hard part is the couple we have missed, have really wised up to the call. on that note though, you can change sounds, and then it helps. Its still real fun. Haven't gotten a yote with my bow yet... been real close a couple times.

The best, most efficient way to control predators on your property is to find a local trapper in your area and let him have at 'em. A good trapper will do more in a few nights than you could do all season(no offence).

I do allot of trapping and that is by far the fastest way to remove them !! usually only 1 or 2 dogs come into the call! And if you have a good trapper you can catch them all in a few days ! or on a good night you might even get them all ! but then again if you dont do everything just right you can educate those coyotes and they wont commit to any of your trap sets ! I got into calling coyotes since when things freeze over it gets hard to keep any traps working in that kind of weather! but snares will still work great ! Good luck on removing some predators and have fun doing it !

I would love to use a bow on them, but a .22-250 or a .243 or a .223 works so much better. Or even a .12 gauge?

We dropped some on Tuesday...will post a few pics in a few minutes

I've killed 5 on my place since Oct 1st - 1 via bow, 1 via .223 and e-caller, 3 via traps. This is my 1st year trapping and I'm hooked. Do some homework and you'll find there is nothing better to put a dent in the population. Still hoping to shoot a couple more this winter yet.

I just picked up a 223 and a couple of mouth calls. Hoping to lay the smack down on a few here soon!

See i would love to use a firearm however the area our hunting property is there is no discharging of firearms. So really a bow is the only way to go for me. Could be a challenge but ill do my best with a bow.

I've been wanting to try trapping. If its the best way to thin them out I'm going to have to next year.

Went to Lake Sangchris State Park Saturday morning. Hunted for 3 hours. Had one coming in, but couldn't get him in shotgun range. Temps topped out at 7 degrees and it was cold but not as cold as I look[IMG]

This is the time of the year when we really put the hurt on coyotes. Most of the males and females are paired up for breeding so when we see one there is usually another real close. We have called in a few this year but mostly run them with hounds. I think we are up to 13-14 dead yotes for the year.
