This is my daughters Theology project she did, scroll ahead to 7:35 mark and tell my what you think of her thoughts on this passage and how she interprets the passage. Reminder she is only 13.
Very impressive for anyone much less a 13 yo. I liked her interpretation and it makes sense to me. Different passages speak to different people in various ways and even differently to the same person as they go through different stages in life. My preacher just mentioned to me the other day how his favorite Theology Professor would always ask the students how they interpreted a particular passage or chapter or book, not what did it say. Again very impressive. She is very articulate in her speaking abilities as well as her analytical and reasoning skills for any age.
I really would need to know what she meant by Jesus healing the blind man gave the blind man faith. I listened to it 4 times and change what I thought she meant twice...lol. Her heart sure seems to be toward God! Your daughter is very well spoken, Gary. You must be very proud of her
That was very beautifully done Germ. I did have one question though. If I remember right, I was taught that Mary remained a virgin. But it looks like, in your daughters presentation, she has anther kid. Has that been changed? Not being picky, just curious. You have a very talented daughter.
I did not ask so as to generate one of THOSE discussions. I realize anything posted on a forum like this is open to general comment. I was just asking Germ. I'm not inclined to get into a debate on the Virgin Mary, evolution, prayer to the saints or Shinto, with fundamentalists today. Maybe tomorrow, but not today.
Reason I asked was because in the scene where they find Jesus in the temple, she has another kid in her arms. I kind of lost track of some of the changes after Vat II.
Not meaning to be uncalm here, but you didn't answer my question. You just expressed two opinions. 1- Since you're not Catholic, I can't be sure your answer is right - might be, but I can't be sure. 2- Our opinions differ on what the Bible says about that. We can discuss that sometime if you like, but not today.
I am Catholic. He is correct. I've always been taught that Mary only had one child, and that she remained a virgin. Mary the virgin mother is how she is referred to in the church.
I was Catholic until I was 30....it was when I started reading the Bible that I realized the different teachings
I watched it too. I agree with my husband. Your daughter is very bright and very creative. I understand you're a U of M fan, so I assume she's adopted.
Thats very good for a girl that young to start learning abt the bible and having fun woth it, The actual video tho did have some differences tho but i know they just tried to sum ot up lol, And I like her prespective on the Holy Ghost it really is like a fire, A+ video!
Well i wasnt gonna say nothing lol but alot of that video of the story was wrong lol but i def aint trying to get no one mad but im pentacostal and i wanna know whats ur all beleifs when your catholic lol im no ome tp judge and definitly aont but i just wanna know why you all believe that way
Well, a couple thousand years ago (you can read about this in the New Testament) Jesus, knowing that he was going to be leaving town, decided to put someone in charge to keep things going after he left. So he picked Peter who did a pretty good job of getting Christianity going and on the right path. Of course Peter eventually died. Actually, he was executed by the Romans. So Jesus' followers picked someone to replace him. This happened time after time and these guys came to be called popes which is derived from informal Italian for father. (Papa) This organization came to be called the Catholic (which just means universal) church. Some groups disagreed with the selection of popes so they started there own branch with a different guy in charge, but the teachings remained pretty much the same, based on what was handed down from Jesus' disciples. But eventually a lot of people came along who decided that Jesus had made a big mistake handing over the authority to Peter and that the disciples and the guys who followed them had screwed everything up. So a whole bunch of other churches were started up, each one of them claiming to be the one true deal. The Pentecostal movement didn't get launched until the 20th century. Even though there were already hundreds of different churches the founders didn't like any of them. So they started another new one. It's kind of interesting because when you talk to people about religion, you can often find people who firmly believe that Jesus' apostles must have messed everything up and that the particular church to which they belong is the ONE TRUE FAITH. I grew up Shinto and I joined the Catholic Church after I married. I didn't give up Shinto, I just merged the two because I found a lot of corollaries between the two practices, and I have no problem with maybe some differences in explanation.
No, please read my post again. It's you guys who think Jesus made a mistake. You seem to have deleted part of my post when you quoted it.
How? We live the bible, we believe Jesus has a reason for everything You must got us confused with someone else lol cuz were far from that And we actualy pray to Jesus not mary.. lol
Every church out there claims they're following the Bible and they all have different interpretations. I'm not all that impressed. We pray to Jesus too. And I also pray to my ancestors and to other saints for guidance in my life.
