    I just did some reading and am a bit confused myself now. I have read that regardless of time of year that if a doe comes into heat a buck will breed her. But I also know that you are right about his testicles and his velvet being shed. I also know that the reason a buck sheds his antlers is due to an extreme drop in testosterone levels and also at that time his testicles receed (for how long I do now know).
