UPDATE: Good news. For details, see post #15. While in Quebec with my oldest son for a bike race, we got a scary call last night. My youngest son was camping with friends back home and was bumped in the eye with a hot marshmallow fork. He is currently on the way to Des Moines to be seen by a corneal surgeon. He was treated at ER last night and seen by local eye Dr. this AM. The local eye Dr. could not tell for sure if his eye had an abraision or if it was his contact melted to his eye. He is medicated to the point of sleeping and is wearing a patch so not currently in any pain. Though blurred, he does have some vision so we are hoping for the best obviously. It is hard being over 1300 miles away from a child in need, even though he is in great hands with my wife's parents. Please say a prayer for Chase. Thank you.
How tragic.... and such a freak thing. Good luck to your family during this tough and scary time. Prayers sent.
Great news! The surgeon said no procedure is necessary and that his eye will heal in time. He has some abrasion to the cornea but it was not deep enough to require more than medication and time. They said he should heal in a matter of days and have no lasting problems. They have given him meds for the pain and he just needs to rest and give it time. Thanks from the bottom of my heart for your thoughts and prayers! Never underestimate the power of prayer. Fletch
Awesome Dave! How long are you in Canada for? You're not going to pick up any strange speech patterns are you?
