Prayers for you brother...Just pray with him daily to keep his hopes up and we'll keep on praying for him and the Dr.'s to figure it all out.
Praying for you and your family. Times like this are difficult indeed. God is good, all the time; trust him.
Thanks for the prayers and good wishes everyone. I spent last night at the hospital with my folks because dad had a bad night the night before and I was late getting there yesterday evening so I just stayed rather than diving back home at 1am. Dr.s (actually a very good nurse) got his pain and blood pressure regulated finally this morning about 8am with a simple change of meds. Tests have all pretty much been negative. A heart surgeon came in this morning about 11am and said there's not much there to cause that sort of pain and confirmed symptoms he'd been told about. He said...well that's simple it's the gallbladder. He said the tests weren't necessarily worth a crap that the gallbladder can cause those symptoms and not be diseased or have stones...just not functioning properly and with the bundles of organ nerves the pain moves around and is variable. So as far as I know they are planning to do surgery to remove it and hope that fixes the issue of stomach and back pain. Dad was a lot better all day today with the change in meds, even got up out of bed for the first time since last monday. Hopefully things continue to improve. Thanks again so much!
Well, I had a scare this morning. I spent the night at home last night so I could work today and plant some wheat today since dad was doing pretty well last evening when I left. This morning I called to check on things and they still hadn't fixed his IV problem, they were going to install a pick(sp?) in his shoulder because his veins just won't take an IV. They took him off the antibiotics yesterday when they pulled his failed IV and he was already a little dehydrated. They failed to get anything going all night and this morning he was doing pretty poorly again. Some of the blood work came back and they said he had staff infection in his blood. They said they couldn't do the pick because of that...I'm not going to lie, I thought that was probably the last straw. I spent some time praying and trying to figure out what to do, go ahead with work plans or make the hour and a half drive back up there right then. I decided to go ahead and at least get things going here. An hour later I got a call from mom and she said the blood test was a false positive from the way they took the culture, according to the infections specialist. So they did the pick and put him on a strong version of penicillin and he was very much improved this afternoon. They scheduled to take out the gallbladder Tuesday. Such a touchy situation, he smoked hard for over 60 years and has advanced emphysema and he's run down so it doesn't take much to really hammer him hard. I've been on pins and needles for this entire last week...Hopefully they get things calmed down pretty soon.
Just keep pressing in brother God has this!! Seems you need to pray for the nurses and doctors more than anything. Had something happen with my dad a few months back where the hospital seemed to do a little poorly on care for him after a simple surgery and he got sick when he shouldn't have do to lack of hydration a infection and sent him home while still having issues it was a tough time dealing with the hospital. It took his Dr. coming in and taking over and getting on the staff to watch him better and pay closer attention before releasing him. He was in and out the hospital for a month straight because they kept releasing him early. Needless to say we use a different hospital now lol. Pray he gets better brother
Well, they have dad scheduled to take out his gallbladder tomorrow morning at 10am (Oct 6th). They went through all the concerns and scared everyone this morning, his heart, his lung health (or lack of), yadda yadda. His pulmonary Dr gave the go ahead so I guess it's happening. I don't know if he'll make it through surgery or not or if they'll be able to pull him off the respirator afterwards, seemed to be the concerns shared by all. One things for sure he can't keep on with the problems he has either from the gallbladder so what do you do. All I know to do is pray and hope for the best at this point. I think his heart will be okay but his respiratory challenges I don't know. Only positive side is the surgery is minimally invasive. They also claim to see two "suspicious spots" they want to look at closer at some point so now I'm worried about that but right now all I want is to see him get past this surgery. Man folks, never take you or your families health for granted...I never have but it still sucks when this crap happens.
Prayers sent. Hope all goes well tomorrow. It's tough when their old and you feel so helpless. God Bless
Well, no surgery today afterall, they put it off again while they checked to make sure he doesn't have pneumonia. This hospital is a pita.
