I just found out a very dear friend of mine, Glenn McDole is in the hospital. Glenn joined the Marine Corps in the early 1940's and was in the Philippines when it fell to the Japanese. He spent 3 1/2 years in a prisoner of war camp and while at Palawan, the Japanese decided to kill all the POW's. He was able to escape along w/a handful of others and due to their debriefing, the military learned of the POW's at Cabanatuan. A book was written about him entitled Last Man Out: Glenn McDole, USMC, Survivor of the Palawan Massacre in World War II. After the war, he returned to Iowa and became a state trooper. He was called back to active duty for the Korean War and then back to being a state trooper. He retired after 30 years of service. In all the years I have known him, he always put the wants and needs of others over his own. A little over a year ago his wife, Betty, went to the Lord. Since then, he has suffered from a blood vessel bursting in his brain after a fall, congenital heart failure, and now more medical problems. He loves to fish and was still painting houses and doing odd jobs for his kids and grandkids up until the time Betty passed. He is a very kind man and my hero. Please take the time to put in a good word with the Lord for this man who has given so much. Thank you, Mark
Yesterday Glenn had a really bad day. The doctors discovered that he has a hemmorage in his right front lobe. Today, he's talking about wanting to go fishing again (after I left some pictures of the fish we are catching here). His daughter said those pic's brightened his mood up a lot. Keep the prayers coming, Please!
