Sorry guys, I had an update on my father-in-law up here, but it got lost in translation during the move to the new software. Thanks again for all the prayers and support. He is still in the ICU at this time. Yesterday they started to ween him off the sedatives. He was awake but his mind is still foggy. He was able to recognize voices and he was pretty emotional. It was a rough day, as he still struggled with the ventilator tube in, balance the pain, and become aware of his situation. He was emotional and tired, we are trying to keep visitors down and keep him calm. Today my wife got an update from my mother-in-law that was a little disheartening. They believe he has some muscle damage due to whatever attacked his lungs and kidneys. He wasn't able to squeeze his hands but he could respond by blinking his eyes. He is aware, his brain is just not responding as quickly as it should be. Today they are going to give him a CT Scan to follow up an EEG they performed yesterday. Initial results say brainwaves are present, just slow. Sedatives could still be stored in the fatty tissues of his body and still be present, this could be part of the reason his brain activity is slow right now. Overall, this experience has really pressed my faith, my trust in God, and my being as a whole. We are blessed to have him alive and alert, my prayer now is that God strengthens and holds this family during the next few weeks. It sounds like the road to recovery may be the hardest part. I am assuming physical therapy will be needed, as well as possibly respiratory therapy. We will cling to the Lord during this time. Thanks for the prayers and well-wishes, I will continue to update my father-in-law's progress as best as I can.
