"Hear my prayer, O Lord; let my cry come to you! Do not hide your face from me in the day of my distress! Incline your ear to me; answer me speedily in the day when I call!" (Pslam 102:1) Guys, I need some prayer. My father-in-law is currently in critical condition in the hospital. Just one week ago the man was returning from a cruise with his wife of 35 years. Within just two days, his health has deteriorated to a point where he is only breathing on a ventilator because of the massive amount of fluid and infection within his lungs. His kidneys are not functioning as well as they would like either, dialysis will be started if needed. The doctors have exhausted all possibilities of what could be causing the trauma within the lungs. Today I should find out whether or not his condition is worsening or turning the corner. This truly is a medical mystery. Possibilities have included bacterial, viral, fungal infections as well as a possible auto-immune disease. They have treated him for everything possible and our hope is the steroids they started yesterday morning will continue to show signs of improving his condition. This man is a man of strong faith. His legacy and life has touched many. I am a lost for words right now. For God's plan are never ours and ultimately, this situation is in his hands. I just wanted to update you guys as I have shared so many great memories here and I know this won't fall on deaf ear. If you pray, pray the Lord's Will be done in this situation. Good or bad, I know the Lord is still using this man, who cannot speak and move, for a much larger purpose. For God alone is worthy of praise no matter our situation. Thanks for everything. I'll hopefully get an update tonight. God Bless.
Definately saying one for your FIL and the rest of your family. Hope everything works out there Bols.
Prayers sent, bud. Hopefully he will make a recovery. It's very scary they don't really know what is causing it.
"Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand." (Isaiah 41:10) I can't thank you enough for the prayers and support. As of last night we have been truly blessed to have such a strong core of church members praying for this man, who is still being used while in that bed. We had a prayer service last night at our church, I believe there will be another one tonight. Yesterday was greeted with ups and downs. My father-in-law had to start dialysis as his kidneys were in shock from all of the medicine and toxins that were filling his body. He had gained close to 15 lbs in just one day. The dialysis was successful as they were able to filter out some of those toxins and meds he couldn't pass on his own. His chest X-Rays, which seem to be the most important test right now didn't change. His lungs are still looking very cloudy and white. They still can't determine a cause and possibly leading towards a syndrome known as Hamman Rich. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hamman-Rich_syndrome Not much is known or written about this syndrome. Later in the evening we received some positive news, doctors were able to lower his ventilator without causing distress and dialysis was deemed a success. The carbon dioxide levels in his body were decreasing and his blood pressure, heart-rate, and oxygen levels were normal. At this point, progress is a wonderful blessing. Thanks again for all your prayers. Keep them coming. Our petitions to the Lord will not fall on deaf ear. I'll try and give you guys an update again tomorrow in the AM.
