Our Father in heaven... You alone are Holy above measure. Please search us and forgive us so that you may hear our prayers. This has been yet another devastating day in our nation; in Connecticut; in this school. My thoughts fall nearly silent as I ponder the emotional trauma dashing through the minds of so many. My words of wisdom fall short, my heart sinks in despair, I am sickened as I see the news. My heart cries out in anger and utter confusion. Right now Lord God I ask that You provide a supernatural sense of peace for those whose very souls are being flooded with a similar overwelming sense of confusion. I pray Father that You comfort the countless victims of this unspeakable evil. I pray that You unite our hearts together as we reach out with the love of Christ and enable us to somehow be used to ease the indescribable pain the families of those who will be burying their children in the coming days must be experiencing. I pray Father that You somehow use this day, in ways that only You can comprehend, to unite us as a nation to love one another, to have compassion for one another, to look to the good of one another, to reach out to those in need and to work together to protect one another from the mindless evil of acts like this. Father forgive us our trespasses as we forgive others of theirs. Teach me how to do this, for right now I am not finding the strength to do that on my own, I pray You forgive me for that sin. Walk with us in these coming days, especially the families, the teachers and those dear children who witnessed things no child should ever see. Deliver us from evil, for this is Your will... amen.
