I recently bought a new set of 12 carbon arrows with practice points. I also have a pack of three (3) broadheads to hunt with. The bow shop owner promised that these F15 broadheads shoot to the same point of aim as the field points and that I should replace 3 practice points with the blades and go hunting. Should I take his word for it or should I ruin a $15 broadhead by practicing with it? Thanks for the help...I'm a new bowhunter.

There's more to bow hunting than screwing on a broadhead and hitting the woods. Your bow needs to be "tuned" to you, your broadheads "tuned" to your arrow and your arrows "tuned" to your bow. I wouldn't take anyones word that a broadhead will have the same poi as fieldpoints. If your bow is tuned screw on a broadhead see if it spins true, no wobble, go outside and shoot it. If it doesn't fly true there's a wealth of knowledge on this web site as well as other sources to get you going. One that comes to mind is Easton's Tuning Guide.
    Good luck.

never take a word from no one, every bow shoots differnet, your pattern might be right on,but then you put your broadheads on your pattern might be off,and you need to ajust your bow,you don't need to shoot alote, just shoot and see what your pattern looks like.and go from there.keep posting.:)

Please don't go in the woods without practicing with your broadheads.

Practice with the broadheads on!! It was a lesson I learned the hard way. I was told the same thing when I started. I was grouping great with my field points so when I went bowhunting for the first time I just screwed in the broadheads and went on my way. Well on my first shot at a deer I completly missed, I was WAY left with the broadhead on. So I did a little research figured out the problem and fixed it. AND decided I'd never believe what someone in a "pro" shop told me again.

I really stay away from broadheads that don't have an option for practice blades or at least replacement blades... I will shoot rage heads , they come with a practice head, or a fixed head with replaceable blades, Slick Trick/muzzy so on... but whatever you do, do not just go into the woods not knowing.
