Preseason you practice, sight-in using field point then you tune your broadheads. Question: How often do you sight-in, practice duing the season? Do you check the flight of your broadheads during the season? Do you not want to dull your broadheads so if my field point fly right my broadheads must be okay. As long as I don't bump my bow there's no need to check it out anymore. I keep checking it cause I just love shooting anyway.
i shoot my bow all year round you never know if anything is going to get moved from going to your hunt gettin up in the tree or even comeing home. i shoot one borad head for pratice to make sure i am still on. you use one and keep the rest for hunting. just because your field points fly good doesnt mean that your broadheads will. they can shoot low while your fieldpoints shoot dead on it will depend on your bow the arrows you use and the broadhead you shoot. you should shoot your bow at least once a week its good pratice and you know your still dead on from the week befor. keeps your muscle memory also. yes you keep shooting because you love it but also because it needs to be done to make sure its still good. i know people that will shoot there bow one time and say its good but then they get out in the woods and the big boys come out and they miss or worse they have a very bad shoot and they never find the deer. you should shoot in all kinds of weather. if your going to hunt in it you should pratice in it atleast once to know how your equipment will work.
1. I shoot roughly 100-150 arrows twice a week all year round, It's the only way to stay sharp, and that I way I'm already comfortable with my equipment at the start of the season. 2. Yes, I shoot my practice heads on a regular basis, it's amazing how fast something on your bow can change, and before you know it your bh's and fp's aren't hitting in the same spot. 3. With a properly tuned bow your fp's and bh's should hit the same hole, but the average bowhunter's bow is not tuned correctly. Get a practice head (for expandables) or donate one of your bh's for target use, then sharpen it after (fixed blade). 4. ALWAYS check your bow, before every hunt. Check for screws that have loosened, make sure your peep is still tied in, make sure your bh's are tight on your arrows. A quick once over can save you a lot of headaches once you get into the field. 5. I love to shoot, even more since I got my girlfriend all set up with her own. It's a great sport!
