I'm looking into bow hunting as a new pastime but I've never tried it and know little about archery in general. Where would be a good place to start? I'm a tall guy too, 6'6", I got measured and my draw length is 33" or over. Where do I find bows for taller guys and what should I look for?

Hi Semper, welcome on board mate.

Re your huge draw length, ive got a friend who is 6'7 and he's a 34" draw, take a look at the PSE Freak, new for 2012 and built for you big guys, here's a link:

    http://pse-archery.com/products/cat...+Infinity/445.5.1.1.17305.1002771.1003126.0.0

You can also fix a d loop to your bow and get away with going to a lower draw length. There are also bows which even though set on a certain draw length are longer due to the setup.

Tell me, how did you measure your draw length, the reason i ask is that plenty get it wrong.

As for bowhunting, im sure youll love it, its a challenge, but also a rush and to come home with a trophy or a load of meat or even a day out in the wild is always a good thing, cheers buddy

Welcome to the site! I'm not really up to speed on all of the Long draw bows, but most manufacturers have at least one model for you guys with gorilla arms :poke:

By the way, Thank You for your service! :tu:

I got measured at a Bass Pro Shop. I didn't want to buy a bow at the time because I had no idea what I was doing. I looked at the "freak" but I wasn't sure about it being it is a competition bow. At least that's what I was told. Thanks for the advice too, I'll look into it and see what I can come up with.

here's a list of some bow companies for you to wade through, you might find something that suits

re the PSE freak, its a bit weighty for me and ata is longer than i desire but many archers and hunters like those type of specs, the bow can be used for hunting or target no probs. all the best
