You think there would be as many people lives ruined by gambling if they didn't make it legal in those states? You think these Moms and Dads would be sneaking around back alleys playing pokers or do you think these casinos make it really easy to get them hooked?

    Same thing.

Yes. People will find underground methods. They exist in areas where gambling is illegal. Prohibition?

Too bad for those families, it sucks but does jailing them really solve much? No they go back to gambling. Meth addicts go right back to me that after jail.

I should also point out that Christianity after being outlawed, was legalized and became the Roman empires religion after they found they could not control it ; )

Outlawing things simply make things go underground and black market. Irresponsible people will chase it no matter the location.

I'm not sure outlawing has solved the issue much other than spending more government money enforcing those laws. I'm not advocating for no laws as there needs to be reasonable laws and enforcement. The marijuana drug no more harmful than cigarettes or alcohol (conspiracy theories exist about why pot was banned) I don't think should be a priority for the government.

All that outlawing will do is hurt irresponsible people by making them a criminal. It won't help them

I'd make it legal to grow your own to smoke but not for resale.

Keep preaching that nanny state. The government knows what is best for you.

Some places don't really have the right conditions = ( but hey I do like that idea. Unfortunately all you're doing is legitimizing drug dealers or growers to grow pot legally then illegally sell it.

Just make it a pain in the arse for them. I agree I don't wants cops wasting their time or our money or filling up jails with these dealers but just make it uncomfortable for them. Maybe like prostitution and John's. Put your picture in the paper and crap.

I don't really care but I stopped hanging around with pot heads when I gave it up at 19.

How do you propose you make it a pain in the *** for them? It's easy to throw an idea out there, it's much harder to make it realistic.

Would it be like all the checks and laws we have in place for gun control?

I don't even know why I try to debate with you. You always turn everything someone says upside down. I'm not asking for more laws, I'm saying laws are better decided and enforced on a localized level. I'm sorry you don't get it.

I'm not talking about free pot, I'm talking about welfare. There's going to be more immigrants put on welfare and subsidies than will be paying taxes. All these minor immigrants that are coming across the border, how are they going to pay taxes? We are going to house them, feed them and educate them on the Americans dime, not theirs.

This post blows my mind. Its hard to believe its that hard to make the connection on how other people getting high on METH could affect you....

How about your kid is playing at the park and looks at a meth head weird because the meth head looks weird and the meth head pulls out a gun and shoots your kids because he freaks out? Legalizing small amount of meth won't stop people from carrying/using the same amount they already do, it will just make it less of a punishment to use the larger amounts that they use now. I bet you would be proud of your decision to vote for the legalization of meth while you bury your child...

Yes meth is a part of our culture, but lets not just bend over and let it pass. Let's take the harder route and try to eradicate it.

We are talking about the legalization of marijuana... Not meth.

I've never heard of a situation of someone on meth doing these things. Maybe you could shed some light? Priests abusing children, husbands hurting/killing children/wives after drinking alcohol... It doesn't matter.

The meth argument is not valid here.

I don't have time to read this entire thread, and I've pretty much said how I feel about pot in threads past...however, I'll just say this:

Not every person who smokes pot regularly is a complete worthless scum sucking drain on society; but every complete worthless scum sucking drain on society I've ever met (and I meet them every single day) smokes pot regularly.
