Right. I think people should be free to make their own choices. What a radical belief!

Nothing is black and white. State rights only go so far before we lose our unified nation. Legalizing substances is a fine line as well because at some point their use IS a drain on society thus effecting others...

It's been made clear that alcohol and cigarettes are ok. IMO both are worse than marijuana socially, as well as for your health. Alcohol is far more mind altering than marijuana as well. On the flip side those using medicinal uses of marijuana as a reason to legalize don't realize that cup doesn't hold water either.... Fentanyl is used medicinally shall we make it available at gas stations as well?

I guess what I'm saying is that everyone must draw their line on what they believe to be acceptable for society. I think meth and other hard narcotics should remain illegal. I just find it hypocritical to believe alcohol legalization is okay while marijuana legalization is not...

Sure you trade 3 tyrants far away for 3000 tyrants back home. Federal Government has nothing to do with states legalizing marijuana, states have already done it. All you're doing by giving states more power in this case is simply fattening up state government doing the exact same thing as federal government. Don't see your logic.

Technically, going by the way of marijuana, if you just make them citizens, you can tax them.

Our founding fathers came up with the logic, not me. I'm guessing the reason is to keep the government from getting so big that it no longer protects the rights of it's citizens. Similar to how England taxed the colonist without any representation in their government.

oh my word... so the resulting 16 pages started from this?

yes, Washington state began selling recreational pot yesterday.

the biggest thing I got from the stories yesterday and this morning was that there was a shortage of legal weed for sale at shops (because the legal pot industry was not ready) and that people were being encouraged to purchase only 1 gram...

    FOR $30/gram?!?!?!?! including taxes, etc.

this won't mean much to most of you, but that works out to $840/ounce... that's $13.4k/pound... which is unreal prices. (is my math right or am I stoned?)

one stoned bastard interviewed yesterday said he was willing to pay that because he knew the money was going to a good cause - revenue for schools, and stuff (I wish I could find the audio on NPR... it was typical stoner speak) - you know, the extra money (taxes and fees) has to be going to a good cause because it is regulated by the government now, right, instead of some shady drug dealer...

You're going way off topic, I'm pretty sure we all know of the 10th amendment. Again setting more laws equals more government state or federal. Is that what you want? You're trading one for the other.

You want states to be able to have more power, fine washington and Colorado did just that. The federal government didn't, in fact the federal government is on your side this time.

Missing the point completely skywalker. I don't see anyone getting free pot, but some states sure did legalize it to get revenue from it.

And do those successful people not recognize the less fortunate and under educated that my not have their responsible mind set?

I know many myself and they preach the same thing their whole lives untie their kids grew up as burnouts any now their eating crow.

We have great minds for a reason. We are all not created equal, physically, socially or mentally.

And it's our fault that people aren't responsible? You reap what you sow and bad things happen to good people. I just don't see how irresponsible people have anything to do with laws, laws don't stop irresponsible people, only responsible ones. Much like gun laws.

Outlawing pot won't make anymore irresponsible less prone to doing pot, they obviously get it already. At least now someone will make money on it other than non tax paying drug dealers.
