http://espn.go.com/college-football...-ducks-deny-drug-culture-eugene-espn-magazine ESPN article talking with Oregon players regarding their pot use which includes pre-game. Eugene is obviously very different in it's culture, but just how prevalent is it amongst major college football programs?
I don't think it has anything to do with Eugene, and everything to do with it being college. This just in...college kids smoke weed.
Nowhere is Oregon's laissez-faire approach to marijuana more apparent than Eugene, the state's counterculture and cannabis capital. "Business here is almost overwhelming," says a student-dealer who lives on -- no joke -- High Street. "Here, everybody smokes." Not surprisingly, The Princeton Review and High Times both have ranked the University of Oregon among the most pot-friendly schools. Another telltale, anecdotal sign: Into the 1990s, the Grateful Dead made Autzen Stadium a regular tour stop. "It's the weed capital of the world," says former Duck Reuben Droughns. "Long dreads. Girls with hairy armpits. Where there's hippies, there's weed."
Perhaps you've never been to Ann Arbor? Ask any dealer on/near a college campus. Business is always good.
Been there twice. Never saw any hairy armpits. :p Don't get me wrong. I get it that college kids smoke weed. How many football players are doing it and especially before games? I bet the kids from the SEC don’t smoke weed.
Pot + anyone = so what If they took a couple shots of tequila before each game would that be a big deal?
I would guess more than you think. Back in the late 90s, a certain all time leading rusher told me he and several others get high before every game. Said it helps them relax and focus. So it happens in your backyard, too.
I don't really have a problem w it just never really cared for it myself. Those that do it regularly tend to always lose ambition and I'd rather just drink if doing it recreationally. As for football players doing it, id say 95%.... The percentage for college students in general would be slightly lower but still staggering. I wish they would legalize and tax it and quit giving lowlife scumbags a easy tax free way of life.
Totally agree Trev. I don't see what it so wrong with it, personally. Like others have said, who cares.
College kids smoke weed across the country. My one friend plays college basketball and he says smoking before a game makes him play a lot better and most of his teammates do the same. Not sure if thats true but Ill take his word for it. It always going to be around and way too easy to obtain. So I think legalizing should be strongly considered but like every other drug it will create more problems.
