Just got a letter. Monthly premium going up from $210 to $265 per month and cites the ACA as the reason for the increase. Coverage and co pays about the same this year. Warns about potential significant changes for next year (2015). So far, not helping me at all.
We were pretty luck, I think my premiums only went up a little. I think we went up about $18 a month. We were warned that there could be some big changes next year though. So has it helped me? Nope, but I made sure I chose a job that had good benefits when I took my job 8 years ago.
I'm still piggy backing on my parents since I really don't need health insurance right now, but our rates were set to nearly double. We dropped all prescription coverage and doubled our office visit copays to get them back down closer to what we paid this year. STILL went up even with those changes. The ACA was intended to insure the uninsured.... All it has accomplished so far is to uninsure the insured.
You guys are just beginning to see the impact …… it will wreak havoc with our economy as the ripples spread out. My monthly cost is going from $659 to $943 and the deductibles are increasing to $3,000 individual and $6,000 family from $2,500 / $5,000. SO … i raised my prices at work …. so now my customers have to pay more for their insurance and for work on their phone systems. This will be happening everywhere. It may be worse than the ethanol fiasco that increased gas and food prices
My deductible went up a few hundred per person. My costs doubled, and I also had to pay an "Affordable Care Act Transition Fee" which is just under 10 bi-weekly. Oh, and the HSA amount given to us was reduced by 250 bucks. So, in general, costs increased, benefits decreased.
Thankfully my company has absorbed the cost (to the tune of roughly $250k). We actually just had our open enrollment meeting this morning. Nothing will change for this year, if anything, it's going to be slightly better than last year. However, she did warn that come next year more provisions will take affect, mainly the Rx fees and that could impact my out-of-pocket maximum. My real concern is that the price of your health coverage will now be shown on your W2. This means it's only a matter of time before that will be considered income, and you will have to pay income taxes on it... that will cost me thousands a year. This is what the unions are having a fit about and why they are working so hard to seek exemptions that they are giving their high dollar constituents.
Pretty lucky here. They dropped the basic plan and only allow us to join a platinum (ACA lingo) plan. For my family it will cost me $300 a month with the company picking up the other $1500 a month. Benefits of working for a very large Swedish owned company I guess. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Union Powerlineman here, coverage dropped significantly and price increased. More pissed about less coverage than increase in price. At least give us the option to pay more to keep what we had. Going to get worse to.
$1700 a quarter for the family to $3100 a quarter with a bump up of a $1000.00 on the deductible per year. Socialist health care insurance is going to make me want to quit working and live off of everyone else's earnings.
Im self employed. Family coverage is going up from about $350 to $800 a month and the deductibles are going up as well. I'm going to try to not raise my hourly rates but at this point I don't know if I can make it without doing that.
Well...I picked up a second job to assist in offsetting future issues...in the private sector this year so had to go get own insurance, and I won't have to renew till next year....can't wait to dislike ACA even more next year.
I'm just really surprised there hasn't been anyone post that they signed up for this wonderful new FREE government provided health care system that people seemed to believe was being implemented.
It will take me from zero dollars a month to whatever "Penalty...AKA TAX" the federal government is going to charge me for not having health care. I'm not signing up for "Obama Care" just to pay for someone else to go see the doctor when they have the sniffles. I will however, eventually find a way around this ridiculous socialized medicine program. I've been looking.
I know a family that their plan was abolished and to join a new plan will be so much more money, they are now going to quit work and live off the government completely. This can't be a special case either.
