Gun season started saturday here and the pumpkins were every where and in full force. Not being a fan of this nonsense i stayed home and helped the boss paint the kitchen. The week before the rut was in full force here and i was really enjoying hunting it. My questions is once the weekend worriors head home. What would be some of your tactics to get back on the deer after you know they have had so much pressure for 10days. and possiblity post rut.
    Thanks

hey i take it by your name that you are a fellow Nebraska hunter..? I hate this week of the year also here in Nebraska. The gun hunters do not care about anything and will do pretty much do anything to get their deer. I have always gone way off the beaten path as the deer get pressured. Find the thickest crap you can find and be as careful as you can to get in there and hunt it.. From what i have learned the deer take about 2 weeks after the guns are done to get back to as normal as their going to get for the rest of the year. Also late season is another great time to get after a big deer bc he is only focused on eat/sleep and you can sometimes catch up with him on that pattern.

Play the wind and wear the right camo pattern. The deer get really spooky after gun season so i normally do my best to play it safe and take every scent precaution i can until they calm down a few weeks later.

I'm so glad that I don't agree with you. When that time comes I put on my orange vest and hat, grab my TC Encore and join them. Oh, and I love it, too. :tu:

Me too. I love bow hunting but hunting with a rifle is also a lot of fun.
