I think it's cool that a mule deer was shot in Wisconsin. The only reason I said I wonder if it's legal is cuz I was always under the assumption that if a species didn't have a designated hunting season then it was illegal to kill them. Wasn't ripping the guy at all. But if in this case a mule deer and whitetail deer are considered the same thing than that's all I needed to know.
The anti hunting groups would have a field day with anyone who hunts and kills animals - period. If you start trying to appease the anti hunters by giving away your rights your archery is going to be 3D and you'll be eating store bought meat.
I wasn't really trying to bring the anti's into this conversation I was replying to the 1 post dude who brought it up to rebuttal his remarks. I would never try to appease any anti hunter, I just put them on ignore and walk away you can't argue with stupid they drag you down to their level and beat you with experience. This was fun people we obviously have different view points on this but this is the purpose of an open forum, I hope you all have a wonderful and safe season.
http://www.wideopenspaces.com/breaking-first-recorded-mule-deer-killed-wisconsin-bow-hunter/ It's legal. Good for him. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using Tapatalk
For clarity the one post person didn't enter the discussion until post #68. However, you said this much earlier on post #28...
I talked to him last night about it. Going to get a shoulder mount of it. He shot it with a Chris Kyle Prodigy using montecs. Made it like 3 yards and tipped over.
I got tired of reading the rude comments after page 2. So Im hoping the argument was straightened out by now. But remember, its not the ONLY mule deer. Just the only known 1 in the state (I think). There and hundreds of thousands (maybe millions idk) in the world, we can afford 1 dead. If WI wants them there, they will bring them in. PA and many other states for example have with elk. Very successfully I may add. If its a trophy to this hunter and legal, why cry about it. You don't have to like it, he does. Congratulations to the hunter. I would have loved to see it after another year or 2, but I wasn't the one pulling the trigger.
Ideally, he would've too. Wisconsin's upcoming rifle season usually cleans out the herd though so he really had no choice.
