Saw this when I was in the woods today it definitely looks like a tree rub, and if it is im thinking its gotta be something big that did it unless the buck just really worked on it for some time. That tree is about 6-8 inches in wide, and this is a new property im hunting and I honestly haven't had much luck in the past finding rubs but im thinking this has gotta be one. Something did it dont know when or what. ANY THOUGHTS would be much appreciated. The smaller tree is about 30 yards from the bigger one [IMG][IMG]

Get up close to them. If there are vertical lines on the sap wood then you more than likely have a rub. If they're horizontal then something scraped them off. Logging equipment or farmer. The small one definitely looks like a rub to me. Don't know about the bigger one, but if it is a rub, it doesn't necessarily mean monster buck.

The big one doesnt look like a rub to me. Looks like they both are just dieing from what I can tell. If the little one is a rub it looks a year or two old.

    Jeffrey, Jeffrey, Jeffrey...
You've got your wishful thinking cap on young man... the first one looks like a lightening strike (but what the heck do I know???).
The second one was done by a gremlin to entice you into hunting right there and never looking any further, thereby neglecting to find the honey hole he'll be hunting.

BTW... hoping we get on the same team again this year. Best of luck to you mister

Hey there sir and yes the first one is definitely a an old rub it was the second pic yhat I was concerned about. It looked kinda odd thats for sure. Im so excited about this season call it wishful thinking I call it wishful preperation because this location is some 20 acres I'll be bacc in there to check the camera in 2 to 3 weeks to hang my set and be ready come Oct first. That would be cool if we ended up on the same team again lol I look forward to that but if not best of luck to you my friend and just remember a lil wishful thinking never hurt anybody this is what we love to do man just tryna find the right signs for success.

The first one definitely has the marking lines up an down to show its a rub plus the owner pointed it out to me he tells me of a decent buck that he saw in there but never got a crack an this was a few years ago. Thanks for your thoughts.
