My daughter goes in for surgery tomorrow and I am so nervous for her to go under. She is just getting her tonsils and adenoids out, but because her tonsils have blocked 3/4 of her airway and caused her to have sleep apnea, the surgery can not be performed as outpatient. But, she will be at Children's hospital and that is the place to be...SO, I shouldn't be so worried. But I am!
You should be worried because that is what moms do. So don't worry about worrying. Seriously though, good luck and I hope everything turns out for the better.
As a father of two young ones, its natural to worry. I would be too. But she is going to be in great care, so there is some peace of mind. Best of luck to her. Kids seem to be tougher than adults most of the times!
I had mine taken out when I was 24! From what I hear it's much better when your younger. She will be fine.
My son had the identical surgery, it is normal to worry. Thoughts and prayers are with you. I will warn you her breath may be really bad and I mean really bad for a week or ten days. They say that is normal
I cant blame you for worrying. I would to as a parent of 2. Just make sure she shares the ice cream and popsicles they get after that type of surgery.
My son had the same surgery as well when he was 2. If anyone was; I was the basket case but he was fine and was on the floor playing with one of his friends two hours after surgery. His breath was fine but his voice was different, kind of squeeky for a while. I miss him being small sometimes, he's now 14 and 6'3" and tosses me around like a rag doll when we wrestle. She's going to be absolutely fine... go ahead and worry if you want to... then you can laugh about it later. Father we lift up Melissa's daughter right now and ask that you protect her; that You guide the hands of the surgeon and the nursing staff. I ask that you provide comfort for Melissa as well and that you provide a speedy recovery with lots of great ice cream. Thank you for our every breath and for Your grace to see us through whatever comes... amen
Don't worry I had that surgery performed on me 4 years ago due in part of Pneumonia brought on by a child sneezing on me in Wal-Mart. For a surgery at my age is far worst than when you're a kid. She'll do fine. Still it's only natural for a parent to worry. We'll all be with you and your daughter in spirit and strength. She'll be able to speak for about 30 minutes after she wakes up, but after that it's ice cream heaven and she won't be able to speak for about 2 weeks. My wife loved my silence for close to a month. Be Blessed.
Prayers sent!! I am freaking out because my wife and 11 month old son are driving 2 hrs to see her parents with out me, it is natural to worry, so just be Mom and everything will work out.
Thank you everyone for all the wonderful prayers and well wishes. Surgery went great! Glad they warned me in advance what to expect when I'm holding her and they put her under. I almost lost it...to feel your child go completely limp and eyes roll back...it was not a pleasant experience. But, I held it together...at least till I got out of the OR. Now we get a night at Children's and tomorrow we get to go home. Again...Thank you!! This is a really great group and I really appreciate it!
