A majority of our lives have changed because of portable communication devices. With the advent of Blackberrys and I-Phones, you can pretty much do anything wherever there is cell phone service that you can from you home PC.

Combine that with the fact most people have less time for recreational activities like hunting.

So my question is, do you think some will start doing things like working from their tree stand including, checking and composing e-mails, writing letters, even shopping?
I realize that some hunters are in the back country which this would not apply to, due to lack of cell phone service. I also realize that those of you that have jobs that would require you to be present (i.e. manufacturing) this also would not apply.

Just curious if other people have considered this or know someone that does this. Also, does this take away the peace and quiet of the tree stand that so many of us love?

Myself? I will try my hardest not to get to this point. Part of the reason I hunt is to be alone and think about stuff that you just can’t concentrate on during your normal daily life. Having said that, if the only way I would have time to hunt is to do some work while on stand, I would consider it. Luckily, I am not near that yet.

I've done some texting, emailing and web surfing from the tree stand with my iphone (when I have service) but I can't ever see me doing anything real productive for work from it.

I text from stand...that's it. Even then, I don't do it often. Hunting is an escape.

I know a guy who can write programs for CNC machines from his stand..the woods becomes an office. Good work if you can get it!

I just got added texting and the internet to my phone plan...I know ,I'm a little behind the times. I'm already hooked on texting, but I can't see myself doing much of it from the stand. Maybe after a kill, but otherwise, no.

Not me!!! When I go hunting I just hunt and enjoy the woods and animals.
Bow hunting is my drug of choices and I don’t what to be interrupted by a smart phone.

I put my phone on silent and check it every once in awhile to make sure my wife is ok with the kids. Other than that, nope I don't do anything.

I've said it before, hunting season can be texting season. It's the only time of the year that grown men txt more than highschool girls. Personally, I don't have a problem with the txting, hell I have gonne back and looked at a seasons worth of txt on an old phone just for laughs. Just the same, there could be a week gone by that I don't send or rec a txt in the tree. I also might check an email, but that is the extent of things.
