This may have been the easiest buck to name ever. The first picture I saw of him I thought this is a fat @$$ buck and Porky stuck. The only buck I was after was Rocky and I haven't even thought about hunting another buck on my lease since. Lately I have been trying to figure out why I have had way less mature bucks on camera this year compared to the last 7 years. I think Rocky kept a number of mature bucks out of the center of our lease but the only thing I can think of is Porky is keeping mature bucks out of the west side of the property. With the latest camera check and now Porky is also showing up in the center of the property I am thinking Porky must go and we will be trying to take him out with only 8 days left of the season.
He is a biggy! Good luck. It sure looks like you have him patterned--so many different locations and you're getting him at all of them.
Looks like a buck from our property we call Arnie. Cause he looks like a freaking body builder. Big bully ran our 170 inch deer off.
He's definitely a dominant buck (or thinks he is), they generally have the dark stripes above their eyes like that.
had a buck like Porky a few years ago. he was not that big but he intimidated every other buck, even those way bigger. finally decided to shoot him and man, the bigger ones started coming out alot earlier.
Didn't you fill ur tag during that gun season on that giant buck. Its in the deers nature to keep them out of their territory and you forgot about other folks around the neighborhood that hunts them as well. that too might answer you that theres not a lot of big bucks. Rather than trying to get him out of the herd. id give him a chance to grow for next year. he will get bigger next year
He was not that big??? Uhhh I don't know what ur talking about. If that buck scores 105btr or gross over 120 inches that's a trophy as in its big. Looks big to me
I did not shoot the big buck during gun season one of the other guys on the lease shot him. If I usually get a number of big deer on camera every year and one year it drops way below the average then you have to figure out what caused it to happen. It could be a number of things including there are not ss many big bucks this year. I dont believe that is the reason though and one that seams possible that I can fix for next year is that buck is keeping other bucks out. I don't lose anything by trying to take him out this year. He looks old enough to me that I dont think he is going to get any bigger.
You make a lot of comments like the info you give is fact when in all reality it is just your opinion. I havent read any posts that lead me to believe you are a whitetail expert.
I think it's just extra hormonal excretion from the glands there but the dominant bucks always seem to have dark stripes running down across their eyebrows. I can't say it's absolutely always there in every case but seems a large coincidence that some have them and some don't and it's generally the more dominant bucks that do. I don't have any science behind it, just observation.
More than once I have watched a smaller buck drive a larger buck away from feed sources as well as other deer.
