I am here. Sorry it took so long but I'm often running around with my head cut off (figuratively). Looks like we got some hunters on board.. don't recognize everyone but have been paired with Tribal before.. and know of his name from the ole' HNI days. I'm Mike.. married 5 years.. father of a beautiful 2 year old girl.. and do HVAC technician type stuff year round. Occasionally I even moonlight right here at BH.Com. It's fishing season still so I won't get on much until October.. but I'll check in from time to time to see how everyone is doing. Word.
Getting out of state isn't looking very promising for me this season, Chris. But you're always welcome to come share my woods brother! Love the name and the logo guys. Well done!
Okay guys, I registered our name on the main thread. We will vote for a Captain over the weekend. Voting will be from 5pm Friday evening until 8am Monday Morning CST. So far we have one nominee. Selfbros
Turkish, I am originaly a Saint Paul boy but moved out to where I use to do all my duck hunting when we had ducks near Annandale. I hunt by my house here and also do the Metro Hunts in the cities every year!
Unless Someone on here would like to nominate themselves for team Captain of the Pope & Young pile up, I moved to elect Selfbros. Any apposed?
When does your season start? Do you hunt in an earn a buck area? What is your goal this year (a certain buck? or just get a deer?) Here are my answers: Oct 1st No, but tags are more limited this year and you only get one buck tag for archery. My goal is to first get at least one doe early for the freezer, then I would like at least an 8pt buck.
my first day is September 29th. i dont hunt in an earn a buck but in PA we only get 1 buck tag a season. I have two doe tags which i hope to fill ASAP so i can focus just on a buck for the remainder of the season. I would like to wait out for a nice buck but after doing that last year and not capitalizing after two close opportunities, this year im out to get a buck with a bow.
MO opens Sept 15 and IL opens Oct 1. I hope to take a doe in MO prior to Oct 1 and hope to take a few more does in IL by Oct 25. Buck hunting from Oct 25 - Dec 15 and know of 5 bucks that we will take given the opportunity. I'm sure there are more than what we've captured on trailcams. Generally shooting for 140's or better and just hoping for the right opportunity.
Ohio opens Sept. 29th. We're not an "earn a buck" state, but allow only one buck per hunter. I can kill 2 does and 1 buck in my zone, but I'm usually happy with one of each. Archery Addict, if he comes by my stand, he's getting an arrow. BUT, those pics are much closer to my buddy's stand than mine. I'm betting he'll be the one getting a shot at him.
MN opens Sept 15th, and I plan to be out then. If you believe in moon phases, it should be a good time, providing the weather cooperates. Where I hunt I can take up to 5 dear, but only one buck. My goal to to get at least one deer with a bow, preferably a buck, but since I also hunt rifle later in the season, if nothing nice show up, I will pass.
I'm in central/southern IL just east of St Louis, MO. My season starts Oct 1st. I'm not in a earn a buck area. I’ll be out of town on opening day; however, I'll be in town that weekend and hopefully I'll be able to put a deer on the ground. I can shoot doe's all day, every day on my ground. I'd rather just shoot a buck as I'm the only one that eats the meat. Two deer last year and I still have a ton of meat left over. I'm pretty much on an all venison diet until it's all gone. lol I'm going to hold off on hunting a ton until November. I don't want to push the deer on my ground any more then I need to. Plus, I don't want to burn out my wife's good graces prior to the rut. I'll try and use some vacation days the 2nd week of November for those all day sit's. The bucks should be moving good by then and I'll be ready to add those points to our board.
Man it's nutz that people are already posting scores for the contest. I hope you guys hunting Sept 15th put a score on for Pope & Young Pile Up. I'm confused to how we haven't seen any doe's being entered yet. They always seem to pile up at the beginning of the season. Who's confident they'll put something on the ground on thier opening day? I know that I can do it or at least if this year is anything like last year. I had deer under me on every sit.
