Every 2 years the P&Y club has a convention. This year It was held In Minnesota. I asked the girlfriend a while back If she wanted to go and she was all for It so we booked a room for 5 nights and headed down to Rochester for a vacation where the convention was. The convention was last week (April 6th through the 10th). There was many seminars going on. I only got to go to one (Fred Ichler's). The g/f's aunt passed away the 2nd day we were there so we had to pack up and leave the next day. Ichler's seminar was funny as heck!! It was a seminar about "Dangerous and Humorous hunts" that he's been on. He talked about the grizzly sow that charged the boat. He also talked about some other stuff that happened that most have no Idea about. On 2 different occasions he was stranded out In Alaska where stuff went wrong. This guy has been through some tough times while out hunting. Barry and Gene Wensel were there and they had a booth there. I saw them the 1st day but was too late In getting to their booth as they closed It down for the day. Would've loved to have talked with these guys as It's been 20+ years since I last saw these 2 In person. I saw a few other well known hunters- MR James (Past P&Y President and editor of BowHunter Magazine), Larry D Jones (Great elk hunter and caller), Ralph and Vicki (Hunting celebs on TV). G Fred Asbell was there too but didn't get to see him being we left early. The convention had a great turn out from what I hear. I talked with a a few guys from New York. These guys hunt the Adrionics (very tough hunting) or whatever that place Is called there In New York. I've heard others talk before on here about this place. Met some others as well but like I said the trip was very short lived. Before we went to the convention we stopped at the P&Y headquarters and museum that's here In Minnesota. Pretty awesome showcase they have here as well. For people that have donated money to the P&Y club's museum fund the club will In turn make It known by displaying your name In appreciation or whatever you want them to write on the plague or stone. I donated a small amount of money once before my daughter was born and then again another small amount of money after she was born. I thought It would be neat to have both of our names together. They will always be there. Here Is a wood carving of Ishi. He's the Indian who taught Art Young and Saxton Pope what a bow Is all about. These wood carvings are a work of art!! They look very real. Very good work was had. A wood carving of Saxton Pope A wood carving of Art Young.
