Another thing to remember, polygraphs have false positives all the time. And even psychotics who have committed horrible crimes have passed. They are only about 51% accurate. They just want to see if you can tell the truth under stress and you will, so relax buddy. I wish you the best of luck.

Good luck with the job! I'd be stressing too but that's just because I'm a worry-wart.

never have but a buddy of mine did for his firefighter interview process... tell the truth and have no worries. the one big thing i remember him telling me was they asked him if he has ever used drugs... upon his response, which was yes, they asked him if he had used in the past few/handful of years, his answer no. he passed and has been on the job like 5 or 6 years now.

    be honest and good luck.

    Easier then i thought.

It ended up being a CVSA test....basically, testing my voice for discrepancies.

I passed. They will call me next week for the next step in the process.

Good job, and good luck on the rest of the process. I didn't have to take a poly for the dept I got hired by, but I had a psyc screening and a interview with the police commission where they ask similar questions that would be on the poly test, I just answered truthfully knowing that I had made a few mistakes in my past, but who hasn't. Everything went without incident, but nerve-racking non the less. Keep us updated on the process.

Yep! Took one to get OUT of my Paramedic career and IN to the Highway Patrol last week. I have a bad habit of putting more anxiety in to certain things than it's worth so I was a wreck. Just tell the truth and just as importantly, stand by your answers and don't dwell into every little detail on basic "have you ever lied to make yourself look better" or "have you ever lied to a figure of authority" questions. We've all told the stories how the fish was THIS BIG, or said "No officer, I don't know how fast I was going". It's a vague 'catch all' type test so answer assuming they aren't asking about silly BS.
