Yeah, my Moultries are IR cams and I have gotten several deer pics of them looking straight to the camera but they don't seem to get spooked by it that I can notice, the same deer frequent the bait piles and feeders like they couldn't care less about the cameras. I started hanging them over 5' and deer stopped looking at them too though. I'm mostly just trying the Coverts because of the quality of the daytime pics folks have posted here and to see if the batteries last any better in cold weather. My Moultries did pretty well on batts all fall and first part of winter but as soon as we were in the single digits the batteries didn't last for crap. Of course cold weather is just plain rough on batteries anyway but I'm not opposed to using a different camera brand and especially when both of my camera brands will be the top two in this poll.

I am anxious to try some of the black flash cams though.

The 990 daytime pics seem good.

I think stealth cam would get more votes now.

I've always been a fan of my Bushnell's. However, my buddy uses Covert and i've been impressed with his results..

White flash isn't even a contest. Homebrew's all the way :D

I do enjoy the simplicity of commercial cams, though. The battery life on my Covert's are about 1000x better than my best homebrew...which is also nice.

I would have picked Bushnell but their blackflash cams the past two years only use 21 of 33 leds on night time videos. Pretty stupid if you ask me. I had a Bushnell 466 that worked great for three years and it had awesome night time HD video but I accidentally dropped it one day and it never worked after that. I've not used any Moultrie cams for the last 7-8 years so I can't comment about those. With the new case design for 2014 that stopped water leaks I gave the nod to Covert. I do videos 99% of the time and I'm hoping they have 1280p video next year...:D

    3. Covert

I bought a Covert MP8 black and have been very disappointed. Yes the day pics are great, but the night pics are mediocre and the dawn/ dusk pics are whiteout garbage. Bushnell customer service came through and replaced one cam for me for free and one at half price even though both I sent in were 3+ years old and out of warranty. Picked up a moultrie m-80 black off craigslist, and it is definitely better overall than my Covert. Day pics aren't as clear, but they are still very good, and the night pics are definitely better. Will not be buying another Covert unless I get miraculously better pics with it in a third spot.

The best in my opinion is the Reconyx... Can't beat em. Can't afford them either but they are the best. In the 100-150 range I like the reviews of bushnell

Really surprised the vote is so close, I have never owned a Moultrie that did not have to be returned at least once in the first six months.

Jury is still out on my G42's. I checked one last week and it would power up and then shut off. After several tries it finally starting working again. My other G42's have worked flawless but this particular cam has gave me problems before.

For all those who voted Moultrie what model are you using? I've heard the 2014's are not as good as last years.
