I have a 5 pin Axion GLX Gridlock. I had a single pin last year and learned that I would rather have a 5 pin. Think about this situation....

It's rut, the does are being moved around by your hit list buck. They come into range, you bust out the range finder to see it read 40 yards, you move the single pin site to your 40 yard spot. Get ready to draw. They move again, closer. You pick the range finder back up, range him at 30 and move the pin again to 30. By the time you get ready to draw...he's gone.

True story, happened to me last year, never again. I'd rather only have to range and then draw back. I live in NC, our woods are much thicker than the northern hardwoods, typically I have only a few seconds from seeing the deer, to decide if it's a shooter, to range and then to draw back. So the less I have to do, the better.

Though, I like the single pin idea, moving it to whatever yardage to you need. But in my situation it's just not practical.

Good luck on the decision friend!

You say that you need to range again for the single pin but you need to range again for a multi pin too. The adjusting is just another second. Or you can just practice shooting 20, 30, and 40 with you single pin set at 25. After a while it's very easy to do accurately.

There is no way I'd have to rely on a range finder to tell me a deer moved 10 yards closer. If I know a deer was at 40 and he moved closer I'll be within 2-3 yards and an arrow will be in his vitals. People rely on rangefinder and other aids way too much, that's was your fail not the sight.

No, I'm suggesting the addition step is changing the site, not ranging.

My mistake. However if you practice hold over re- ranging is not necessary

10 yards is quite the difference, especially when you're talking about a 30 yard shot compared to a 40. 3 inches on my bow to be exact, that is a difference between hitting vitals and not.

I'm not speaking for others, nor especially for you. Im speaking for me and why I like the 5 pin. There is less steps involved. For me, the extra second made the difference between a wall hanger and watching him walk away

True. I've worked on that this season, for the in between yardage shots. Definitely hope to get better estimating yardage as well

Yeah I practice it a ton. This is shooting 40 with my pin at 25 holding on the top of the red ring.[IMG]

And I only use my rangefinder when hanging stands. I'll range major trails or feeding areas. Then I tape a laminated "cheat sheet" containing the pre ranged yardages to my tree and estimate the in betweens.

I set up my 5 pin sight at 22,28,33,38 and 43. I want more precise aiming than 10 yard settings.

I've shot the hha and was plenty accurate with it out to 35 yards without having to adjust the sight. I could hold over and be in the kill zone but I still prefer having a pin for the yardage I'm shooting or a simple gap to be dead on.

I have held my top 3 pins on deer when I wasn't sure of the exact yardage but knew it was inside 33. 22 at top of kill,28 in the middle and 33 at bottom. Hit in the lungs and deer went about 70 yards.

I voted for the single-pin being as I just bought a Hogg Father .019 single-pin sight. I used to have a five pin Hogg-It which was very nice. I liked the adjustability of the Spot Hogg and its super strong construction. I'm hoping the single-pin will improve my accuracy and archery skills.

MBG 5 pin, but only because I hunt pronghorn. If I just hunted WT deer, I would probably just use a three pin.

HHA, used to use multipins, but opted for something simpler.

Love it! Switched from a 3 pin... felt the 3 pins didn't give me enough range since I use 10 yard increments

I'll just say it like this. I don't know anyone that has went from a multii-pin to a single pin, back to a multi-pin. :)

Exactly the same set up. Just got the React at Christmas and very nice so far. Just need to get the 30 dialed in and according to them, I can't be wrong!
