One thing I am learning is people's opinions are all over the map on this topic. Look at the poll results. Pretty much split evenly down the 5 options wow.

I would have answered if I'd seen.....

"Nothing's happening that isn't attributable to the natural, cyclical weather patterns of the Earth".

ditto...no way our minor little incursion can change this huge planet, but there is some room for improvement from the gross stupidity of damaging the water and such

It seems that many people on the far right of the political spectrum are adamant against the potential that humans are causing global warming. It also seems that many people who believe in the Bible are against that notion as well. What bothers me is that those people also seem to almost laugh off the thought that humans are slobs, are polluting the earth and that we are having a NEGATIVE impact on the earth. My goodness, at least admit that prospect. We should all strive to improve the health of mother earth. We could all "win" in this race if we admitted wrong doing and moved on with a solid plan.

I agree that we are all stewards of the environment. We are responsible for our actions. As outdoors men, and women, it should be more important to us than most that we keep the environment as pristine as possible. We should do whatever is "reasonable", if not for the earth, for our own health and enjoyment. That said, what negative impact? There is no proof that the earth is not cleaning its self or that we are polluting at a rate that is going to have a lasting effect on the earth.

When discussing global warming it is very important to understand that, in the big picture, we are not that far removed from the last ice age. It had to have gotten warmer for the ice to melt off of Illinois and Wisconsin. What is to say that the warming should have stopped just because we as humans began industrializing. We often think that we need to stop the progression of the natural cycle of the earths evolution, why? Is it our own preservation? We know that there is a very definitive spectrum of temp. in which we can exist and are we, on some level, scrambling for anything to keep our environment inhabitable?

My opinion on this does not mean that I agree with doing whatever we choose because there is no proof of the human effect on the environment. What I am saying is that given the facts, we can not blame human action on the insignificant rise in global temperature.

Ladies and gentlemen.. that was Dan's .02 cents.

We should end this debate with this closing statement as I think no one will one-up this well thought out reply.

I learned a long time ago that people can manipulate the "facts" and statistics to produce any kind of argument that suits their opinion. I do know one thing, when I drive around areas I used to live in 25 years ago and tremendous amounts of trees have been ripped down to support us, the slobs of this planet, I know something is wrong. That is all the proof I need that we need to wise up or risk ruining our great planet. That being said, I think the earth is going through it's normal warming and cooling phase which generally occurs every 20,000 years.

Further analysis shows that over 70% of respondents believe either that humans are NOT causing "global warming" or that it is not occurring.

Well the fact that the Eco Weenies have had to try to reinvent the argument multiple times over the past 3 decades to try to sell this should be evidence enough that it really isn't happening. Funny how Al Gore disappears once the solid scientific evidence shows up refuting their claims and that they had to manipulate the data to support it. The Earth goes through cycles of heating and cooling, floods and drought. While I will readily admit that the ever increasing human population needs to be better stewards of the planet, I will just as readily admit that a certain group of the politically elite and uber rich saw this as an opportunity to become even richer and gain more power for themselves. Go and check out the "Crime Inc." expose aired by Beck. It lays it all out in black and white who exactly would benefit from Cap and Trade.

There are 3 kinds of lies:

    1. Lies
    2. Damn Lies
    3. Statistics

I can cite a statistic that show how the earth's temp. goes up, every time you and I fart. And, if you dish out enough money, you can get a room full of scientists to document the "event" as fact.

The time we've been keeping weather records (that these "scientists" are citing) is a faint blip in the life of the Earth. Beware also - Y2K; saccharin and lead paint.

And for God's sakes...if you're gonna masturbate, eat your carrots.

    Regionally? Yes.

    Globally? No.

I'm sorry you cannot understand this.
