Seriously, there is nothing that you could say to me to offend me, my religion or my beliefs.... Someone could call me whatever they want... It would just roll of my back. When did this PC stuff become so entrenched in our culture and why? People need to toughen up a bit and worry about their selves, not what others think or say about them. *I am not advocating calling people names or picking on them what so ever... This is not what I am getting at. (here is one example) How does "Christmas" offend people? If there was a holiday named Buddamas it sure as hell wouldn't offend me. Your thoughts?
I think alot of people are afraid of being called out, and at the same time there's the group that doesn't even know that there getting called out... Then there's holier then though people... Yesterday, while doing special detail at the local church with the fire department, they had a bunch of "nativity" scenes set up around the tables. One had Santa Claus and his elves worshiping baby Jesus, another had a bunch of Native Americans worshiping baby Jesus. I found that...odd. Politically correct? Idk...
Me? Nope. Not much does. But if there was a Native American there, id probably be a little embarrassed.
Something for people angry at the world with nothing to do to ***** about. If it doesnt' directly effect me or my family I could care less what people say or do.
I always thought political correctness was a product of discrimination. If there had never been any discrimination of any kind then we would not have political correctness. Could someone say something extremely derogatory about women in front of your wife while you are standing there? I wouldn't appreciate it too much.
Bruce, I don't think your example of saying something nasty in front of a woman is a PC example. That is more of an example of tact, or lack thereof. An example of being PC is saying something like, "That 22 year old guy really had a hard life, he didn't mean to kill that person. He was trying his best to get his highschool diploma and drop out of the Crips. He only killed that Blood out of self defense. He acted violently because that is what he witnessed growing up in the ghetto" instead of saying something like this...."He is a dirtball gangster who is a street predator. He had every opportunity just like every other American to succeed and chose to act like an animal". Another example of being PC in relation to the county in which I live is this.....PC= "Gangs are growing rapidly regardless of color" instead of this, "Violent Hispanic gangs are growing like wildfire and are becoming a real problem in our community".
Uuummm I could !! I would be trying very hard not to laugh while my wife rips him a new one. Oh and Scott... That there buck last summer was 3.5 years old !!! Tim
I refuse to play the PC game. I will say what is on my mind and if it should offend some sensitive wuss then so be it.
That is all being politically correct is, consideration for your audience. Try this analogy instead of your gangster one: Politically correct - "There are classes for mentally challenged children in our elementary school" Politically incorrect - "Why do they waste our tax dollars on retards that will never amount to anything"
that is not an accurate comparison. The politically incorrect statement to your first sentence would be,"There are classes for retards in our elementary school."
sure, let's go with that. So, you meet a family with a disabled child and they ask about the elementary schools. Are you going to tell them, " There are classes for retards in our elementary school."?
Political correctness is just a bunch of BS those retards that run the country came up with to make themselves feel better about being complete retards themselves. And it's seems to me that all started when they took prayer out of school. That's when we started the down hill slide.
I dont know what i would say, a disabity does not mean retard, but in that case i would say your kid can take the short bus.
