Ukraine isnt a NATO country, all the rest can do is watch and play the sanction game .. if Putin tries something against the NATO ... Ukraine does not need to be NATO. Humanitarian violations is all it will take, should NATO act on it.

At the end of the day they were US citizens, not members of a recognized or uniform military, and not actively engaged in combat against the US or allies. They were also not properly awarded trial by jury as was their Constitutional rights. They had not been stripped of nor officially renounced their American citizenship (at least 2 of them had not.)
