How screwed would we be without Manchin? He is a democrat with courage and principal. (never thought I would ever type those words)
He's not held in check by his values so much as by his constituents. He's blue in a red state which confuses me at times on how he is not primaried by his own party or by a Republican. When Dems had a solid majority he was allowed to vote against gun bills, among others, to keep his seat. He's not a Mark Kirk to his party so to speak, but he's not a Republican either. He has kept the progressives in check this administrations term thus far, but should both chambers turn red this coming November he'll pale to blue from purple. Should he ever become a lame duck in a Senate makeup like now, I wouldn't trust him any more than Turbin Durbin.
He's still serving a purpose now, but beware late this year if a Republican takeover does happen. He doesn't have to change his blue leanings, the rest of them do and only have to come down to his level rather than try to bring him to theirs. He's still a wolf so to speak, but he's got that wool suit half way down.
Not that I would EVER, because she is my wife; but if I did that to Mrs. Noodles in public, she would beat my ass. I am not joking in the least. She would try to beat the hell out of me right then and there. Probably murderously so. I'm not saying I couldn't destroy her physically in a fight, I am saying if I ever disrespected her like that I would be faced with the most terrifying tornado of expensive nails, bobby pins, hidden shivs, straightened hoop earrings, garrots made of woven hair, and general little balls of hate that a man has never seen.
