He definitely should bear some responsibility. He should have checked the firearm himself. But yeah, I get what your saying. They had 2-3 accidental discharges prior to the fatal accident. Their weapons master was a 24yo woman who obviously didn’t have a clue. I don’t see how she wasn’t fired after the first AD/ND. And also, the assistant director is at fault. He had one job, check the pistol before handing it to the actor. Instead he just picked it up and said “cold gun,” before handing it off to Alec. One thing could have prevented it, a clause that anytime a functional firearm is used a safety class will be taken by any and all individuals handling that firearm or in the presence of that firearm. How to check and clear the chamber, plus the 3 rules of firearms and more. 1. Treat every firearm as if it is loaded. 2. Know your target and what is beyond it. 3. Never point a firearm at something you do not intend to destroy.
