I'm seeing a lot of mixed reactions from the veteran community. Some of it surprises me honestly. Mostly people are upset with how the pull out is being handled, but I can't tell you how many times I've heard 20 years for nothing. I'm not going down that rabbit hole here, bc my point is, GWOT veterans are pretty pissed. I have to reach out to a few soon just to check in. I'm sure I don't have to tell you, give Mrs Noodles support and maybe remind her to call her fellow vets to catch up. Meanwhile we can all be assured our executive branch has a solid plan. Yeah, right. Sent from my SM-G781V using Bowhunting.com Forums mobile app
Mostly that for her...That and lamenting how many of our young soldiers she saw get blowed up, only to see the effing Taliban flying around in our choppers today.
I just can't put words to how bad I feel for all our vets and all families of those that served. The horror of us giving years of what now was false hope to all those woman and young girls. To now have their futures snatched from them...we should have been training them to defend themselves. Put the weapons in their hands The fools in Washington failed everyone. OMG to see who was actually in charge of training the Afghanis, now he's here over seeing our troops...start training your women/daughters in weapons and self defense, China's in the wings and they have wingmen with them. Never happen? How many times have you said " I can't believe this is happening" this year?
As a buddy of mine that did a couple tours said, 'these are tribal people with a very weak central government... Nation building was a flawed approach.'
All I can say is if I was in Ukraine or Taiwan right now I would be pissing my pants, moving everything into crypto, and buying plane tickets.
There it is...we'll still be saying , how'd that happen? Though by then they'll know we're totally feckless in our ability at stopping the advancement on us. It will be started well within our borders, Biden is seeding the country as we speak. For all the studies how many have been done on actual south America illegals coming here. This compared to the # of other continental male populace that have been seeded all around us.
The new regional destabization game is afoot. Appeasement and surrender is not the correct approach nor is scorched earth. I bet we are about to see both sides of that coin in the Afghanistan region all the way west and down through north Africa. I truly believe we are about to live history making events in the next 2 years both home and abroad. Buckle up buttercup. Sent from my SM-G781V using Bowhunting.com Forums mobile app
As a former Marine embassy guard I have mixed feeling with whats goin on. While in school we went over the scenes in Beirut when that embassy got attacked and also when the one in Saudia Arabia got attacked right around the time I was there or right after began tour, can't remember. So feel for the Marines that were there waiting to see what was gonna happen. Can't remember the details of the embassy in Kabul but if its like most them guys woulda been pretty much in a island while the attacks came in and it woulda been bad. Although on the other hand there's sheer disappointment of the waste of life that there's been since 2004 and now just tuck tail and seemingly run away. Especially from a leadership that has tried so hard to convince everyone that Jan 6th was anything close to what is goin on right now in Afghanistan. What a joke, especially when turning over US bases to real terrorists. Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk
I can’t believe the Taliban went back on the deal. This is the former administration peace deal we are excuting right now. What did people expect them to do? It’s who and what they are, a lot of men sacrificed their lives, families were devastated and it’s all going to go back to the way it was. https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.bbc.com/news/world-asia-51689443.amp Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
There is a huge difference between "Executing" someone else's plan and executing it correctly and HOLDING the other side accountable. It is this administration that dropped the ball and screwed up the plan.
The issues is this line right here "I really believe the Taliban wants to do something to show we're not all wasting time," Mr Trump added. "If bad things happen, we'll go back with a force like no-one's ever seen." Biden won’t and Trump would have and the Taliban know it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Also where are the Afghan troops we have trained for 20 years? Did they just quit? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
This will be my only post in political venting bc I just don’t really like it. None of the talk here I believe really fixes anything and just leaves one angry. That being said, this comment is pretty inaccurate. While the initial deal was with trump and would have gone roughly the way it is going now, the deal was changed and parameters reset when Biden came in. Both sides, trump and Biden have a hand in this for faults. Trump was allowing the Taliban to break the deal. Biden showed cowardice to them openly. I was there during power change and closed jalalabad airfield. If you want us to win a war let us win. No nation building, you cannot teach people who can’t literally tie their own shoes democracy. The power in Afghanistan is super corrupt. You think our elections or government is corrupt, you ain’t seen nothing til you see how corrupt the Afghan government was. Burning opposition party ballots openly on Election Day, taking money we gave them for ammunition and gear for their troops and spending it on themselves etc etc. BLM thinks we have racism? Go over there and see what it’s like for someone who’s mother was raped by a Russian soldier. Or is hazaran and not pashtun. That’s racism. We should have gone in there destroyed and killed what we needed and then pulled out. By the end there was no good way to leave. What is truly sad is the good Afghans I fought with, that truly wanted freedom. True warriors. Them and their families are on the run and being murdered. That’s the saddest part of this. They are dead or retreated. Look up how the afghani special forces were annihilated by the Taliban just a couple weeks ago. I posted an image of Taliban fighters wearing their armor and gear that they stripped off the bodies.(hint, it’s all our top-notch stuff) Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
Fair, top-notch was not an accurate way to put it. Still quite an upgrade for the Taliban Edit: It burns me quite a bit to see them mocking us in our gear and raising the flag like it’s Iwo Jima Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
