CNN is hilarious. I rarely read any articles on it, usually visit a couplentimes just to see what the narrative of the day is or how they spin something unfavorable to help a Dem out. Anyhow, a picture on Lake Mead caught my curiosity, mainly the ring on the walls around it from water drop. Clicked on it to read. First thingvthat made me chuckle, the second sentence: Plagued by extreme, climate change-fueled drought and increasing demand for water, Lest we forget it is a man made reservoir, not a natural lake. Then the hyperbole comparing the level drop to the statue of liberty. Yet, when you read the caption below the pocture only then doea it state, the height of the statue of liberty without the base I'm not making light of the potential water shortage, that is a real threat. Moreso their ability to overhype and exaggerate with misleading comparisons. Why could they not say the drop is about equal to the base of the statue of liberty? How tall is the Statue of Liberty? That depends on how you measure it! The height of the Statue of Liberty is 151 ft. from the base to the torch. With the pedestal and foundation included in the measurement, the full height is 305 ft.
I wish the government would remove the dam and let the river return to its natural course. If this was truly a climate change article, the author would taking that angle rather than blaming water levels in a man-made reservoir on climate change. I could support that approach.
