Former coworker here decided back in July he was too scared to work. He effectively got layed off, they told him they would not fight his unemployment claim, not that it mattered with Pritzkers Emergency Orders, so he went on unemployment and received the enhancement on top of it. All the while he was doing side jobs for cash, pretty much doubled his income and most of the excess was tax free/exempt. He took that money and put in an offer on a house and property in MO. Came back to work 3 weeks ago for 6 days before he told them it was his last day and he was moving out of state. So yeah, not everyone who "lost" their job truly did. There's so many people that took advantage of what the Dems snuck in the original inflated stimulus. Another did the same thing as far as scared to work, but she has been out since late March on the govt. teat the whole time. Says she can't wait to come back to work, yet I find that hard to believe.
Trying to hire is impossible, and this is not just a crappy job, includes medical, dental, vision, life insurance.
We work in IT/web development. Trying to hire a good person who is still willing to come to an office and work every day is a virtual impossibility. I've had more people than I can count turn down interviews and offers because we're not fully remote. The damage that the media hysteria has done to people during this whole thing may never fully be repaired.
