And, well, we won't have any of their statues, names on buildings or institutions, or references to them lest they offend anyone...
nothing in VA has any remnants of the confederacy. Schools, roads, statues, all gone and renamed. Hell they went even further. John Tyler Comm college will be renamed as well.. honestly, erasing these things won't fix racism. It won't solve racial issues or inequity. If those things offend people then fine, take em down. rename em.. but what are they going to do when they have done that all and they still get offended? remove those people that offend them?
Go ahead and erase it all. Burn the books. That way it never happened. Reparations for what??? Dont know what you're talking about.
“As regards the erection of such a monument as is contemplated," Lee wrote of an 1866 proposal, "my conviction is, that however grateful it would be to the feelings of the South, the attempt in the present condition of the Country, would have the effect of retarding, instead of accelerating its accomplishment; [and] of continuing, if not adding to, the difficulties under which the Southern people labour." Lee seem to agree, I have never seen a monument of confiderate, yet I know a lot about it. There’s is a difference between remembering and educating about the civil war. Also until we hold left or right accountable to being Americans will stay right where they wants us as they laugh all the way to the bank. Cable news has join this money party now also. I have now called all my Congress reps, health department and the gov so many times this week it’s ridiculous. I have yet to have anyone answer them. You know what Tuesday’s at 8:30 when they open I am going to call again. Free pass is done with me. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Lee certainly disapproved of statues honoring the fallen confederates. That is not my issue. In Richmond, we had Monument Ave. several statues including Lee were there for 100+years. It became part of Richmond. People came from all over to see it. Many a history lesson was given because of them..now that won't happen. I am not losing sleep over it, but it does bother me that we can just erase cultures and history....Mark my words, withing the next few years, cotton will no longer be grown here. or anywhere in the south, it will be offensive.. laugh if you will, but I promise it's coming.
