I dont agree with red flag laws. It will do more harm than good. I know it's been said but I believe it to be true, red flag laws will keep people from seeking help with mental issues for fear of having their guns confiscated. What state would this be? I mean, if anywhere should have lower taxes.. I payed more in federal tax this last year than I ever have and it's not bc I made more money, less than I made in 2010-2015 but payed more. UBI is being payed for by a VAT on companies like Amazon, google and other tech heavy companies. Europe has the same VAT and Yang is proposing a rate that is half of that. #math
And not to get off subject and this should probably go in the rant thread.. most people, residential roofing, half expect us to do a job for just this these days. With 1% deductibles and the pure ignorance of labor and material costs your average Joe thinks a roofer should pay his deductible effectively doing the job for practice.
I dont necessarily agree with that. We pay a lot in taxes and it would be nice to see some of that money reinvested in the general public. $12k a year isn't much to me or most others. To some it would be a huge difference and yes to some they would just waste it on moonpies and beer.
I hear the sentiment. Big government would cite all the wondeeful and necessary services you're getting for your 12k taxes. I'm not here to blow smoke up your @$$, but I think we would be better served being a bit more self reliant and/or community engaged than suckling the state and fed teats.
So apparently Cum-o doesn’t like being called Fredo. He probably ought to google streisand effect because with that outburst he pretty much guaranteed that he will forever be known as Fredo. I never even heard of fredo until today, much less that it was a slur. In fact, judging by my autocorrect, I don’t even think the sjw’s in Silicon Valley had heard of it (ie the people who decided two-self was a gender haven’t even figured this one out)
I wasn't inferring you did- just noting that I don't mindlessly follow Trump off a cliff...like a little rodent speciest slur that some like to throw around on here 10 miles east- Indiana. The capping of the SALT deductions means that between property taxes and higher state income tax rates we pay roughly $10k more in total real taxes (not even counting the nearly double sales tax I pay here) than I would if I lived in Indiana by comparison. And yes, knowing that I am still in favor of the SALT cap. Better run states should not have to subsidize crappily run states. who pass those VAT costs on to consumers. I would be in favor of VAT taxes if it resulted in the elimination of the income tax; especially that considering that prior to WW2 the entire government was funded via tariffs. I'm a big fan of taxes based on consumption vs. production.
To further elaborate, it's a pop culture reference from The Godfather I and II. Fredo was the middle son. Dim-witted and weak. Unreliable. And ultimately treasonous.
I got The Godfather reference, just never realized that anybody was using it as an insult. Kind of far fetched if you ask me, kind of like calling somebody Darth to insinuate that they're a ****ty dad.
Ah, the NY Times. Very unbiased publication...... Unverified and speculation, At some point around the time of Epstein’s legal problems, the friendship appears to have ended. Trump has spread the story that he banned Epstein from Mar-a-Lago for making sexual advances to a masseuse. However, the New York Times reported that by some accounts the two men only fell out “after a failed business arrangement between them.” The Washington Post reports that they were rival bidders for the same Palm Beach estate (Trump won).
