The mascot is one thing that’s pretty easy. Land is an entirely different matter. Did the removal act cause pain and suffering? Yep. Was it unnecessarily cruel? Yep. Will giving back land in 2020 change any of that? Nope. Will rewriting that history help? Not at all. Maybe rather than rewrite and remove (ie forgetting) we try to teach it and understand it a little better so we don’t repeat it. Agree with the new class curriculum statement, but let’s not leave out the bad parts of history just because it’s inconvenient to talk about!
Being 5/8ths German, 1/4 Scottish and 1/8th Kiowa, I'm probably the wrong person to talk to about this. But all in all just like most things these days, it happened long before I was born so how am I responsible for it again? It's not like I personally reneged on all those Treaties just like I had nothing to do with collecting the scalps of settlers. And I even have a German great uncle born in St. Louis who died in a concentration camp, he fell off a watchtower. The Scottish side of my family were plantation owners in Georgia and well documented for being slave owners with a lineage that goes back to the revolutionary war, one of them even helped row the boat across the Potomac with Washington aboard. So, I guess what I'm trying to say is Happy Fourth of July, I didnt have anything to do with what has happened in the birth or tragedies of this countries history but I'm proud to be a product of it? Hell, I dont know.
We are all in this together man. Tangled web of triumph and tragedy. I told my son the other day, don't listen to these people who want to destroy this country by dissing all the accomplishments of many of your ancestors. Acknowledge the things they did wrong. Don't deny those things. But many a good old boy and blue collar folks of all shapes and colors have died for this country. The pawns of America in the form of young men who love this country and have very little material possessions. They don't have any statues. No books written about them....just their heart on the line. I will not dishonor them.
I went and watched the video they posted, I wish I hadn’t. Darth Vader is a bleeding heart liberal lol! Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
Let me say this up front,Listen. I am not condoning any of it even a little, period. This said: I find it interesting, lack of a better word by far, the hierarchy in " justice " required. The more money and power the harder they MUST fall. I lived through the 70's this was happening every where.business owners and yes teachers in high school, cops. A time of clubs, Playboy, emerging drugs, coming out of the hippy free love in to the disco sex everywhere. All these men grew up in that. I need to ask, where is the hard hitting justice for the not so rich and powerful involved in such things by the thousands across the country? Where are those investigations? Do you really think girls/ woman haven't come forth in areas about this. Does anyone want to speculate on how those conversations went? I find it all sad and sorry on some level entertaining, but outrage? No, for this is really no more than political theatre.
I would say sex trafficking of young girls is a lot more than political theater. I am not outraged by much, but this is close. Interstate trafficking of young exploited girls makes me sick. All these holier than thou politicians who lecture us on our behavior and morality, yet behind closed doors criminally sexually abuse young girls can all go to prison. But OND, I respect your opinion and understand where you are coming from. This has been going on forever......I get it.
Aint happening. Although can you imagine Kim as the first booty er lady? Seriosly it won't happen. Will it? Sent from my SM-G960U using Bowhunting.com Forums mobile app
