oh, I got rants about that, too. Starting with BHOD pro staffers leaving about 250 points off the scoreboard.
Well compared to a lot of the Democrats he seems like a good man Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
Good point iffn it's your man in the office. Sure woulda sucked to see that bat- eared bastard in any longer!
Gotta admit, I was dead wrong. I thought once a black- lib got elected, I held zero hope an R would ever get in again. Maybe hope yet?.
I've said before, I think your focus on the relationship between race and behavior is bigoted and aligns more with Progressive stereotypical tropes than reality. My wife is of mixed black/Caribbean/Hispanic heritage. It has no bearing on anything in her other than her skin tone and hair. She's more conservative than I in some respects.
The democrats are so damn backwards in their approach to the issues. For example student loan debt, they want to forgive debt because it is not fair that people filled out an application and made the decision to take out the loans. The democrats answer is always the same make the rich pay for it. A logical approach is to start cracking down on public schools and the every single year of tuition and fee increases. That is what is making college unaffordable.
Just wondering. My bloodline immigrated to the USA by Ellis Island early/mid 1920’s, from Italy. I’m American, born on the land of the USA. Slaves were imported and sold into slavery as far as I can recall of the history in settling the USA ? Late 1700’s ? Early 1800’s ??? Slavery ended in finality in 1865. Right at that point and time, slaves became not only free, but American citizens. To assist them in their new roles of USA citizens they were given various forms of benefits to assist in their new “settlements”. We can talk sharecropping or land and work animals such as mules. In its day, this was a rather costly price. Today we call this “reparations”. I have settled on the notion former slaves and their families were indeed given “reparations”. So why the need to re-up reparations today ? If a slave has become a citizen, why are they still referred to by their skin color ? Aren’t they Americans ? Why this Negro, black, brown and for that matter Italian American or American Italian ? I am a fan of abolishing affirmative action. I feel it is racist. All men are created equal. All men includes woMEN. We are all American citizens or we are not American citizens. Color is nothing more than a talking point. Each man stands on its own two legs, skin color or shade of skin color be damned. I’m sick of the color division and the constant recall to days in the past. Here we are today !!!! Is your skin color identifying you or as MLK jr said “your content” ??? What’s your content like ? A malcontent hung up on skin color being unfair ? Or a fighter who attacks all obstacles to succeed? In today’s world what I wrote here would and could be termed “racist” because I am submitting to no preference on skin color but on character content. People leave that out in MLK speech. Conveniently I might add. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I am in no way for reparations but if my memory serves me correct, very few slaves were actually given reparations at the time. The 40 acres and a mule never really happened for the majority of slaves but did for just a few. For instance, my family plantation was confiscated by the North and was scheduled to be divided into lots to be given to former slaves and instead was returned to the family and the sharecropping begun.
I share a lot of your frustrations. But I do want to play devil's advocate a bit just as food for thought. The problem with black America from 1865-1965 was they were free in principle but not in practicality. They were second class citizens in many places in the North and everywhere in the South. It's a shameful fact of segregation. Reconstruction in the South was an abject failure and the compromise of 1877 brought white supremacy right back on top. Whites violently overthrew legally elected governments in Hamburg, SC and in Wilmington, NC, in the late 19th century. Some ugly horrible stuff. Banana republic actions. That said...I don't think anyone born after LBJ's legislation in the mid-sixties has a legitimate personal beef with America. We've come a long way and the doors are open for anyone of any color. We've had a black president FFS. Anyone who says race relations are worse than ever is woefully ignorant of history. Or a gd liar.
Interesting way to determine whether someone is a "good man". He in no way in hell is a good man. I guess you and I will have to agree to disagree that Donald Trump is a great man.
Here's my issue with reparations: Not everyone living in America had ancestors who lived here at the time. So, why should they be punished (taxes to pay this "reparation") Not everyone living in America at the time of slavery owned slaves. Why punish their descendants? Slavery was not simply a matter of skin colour. There were also slaves of Asian and European descent. Let's also not forget any American Indians who fell into it. If reparations are paid to descendants of slaves. Where does it end? What about Irish, Chinese and others? What about the Japanese who lived in America during WW2 who were sent to internment camps? If reparations were to be paid, it should have been done immediately after the end of the Civil War such as was planned. Too much time has passed, and I feel that some level of statute of limitations should apply in this case. Also, dare I say that there's just as much hatred towards white from black as there is the other way? There's also a lot of voluntary segregation that's been happening over the years.
The mathematical analysis and then application when applying reparations payments would be absurd. Like 50, 000 shades of gray absurd. All talks of that need to cease. To effect the quality of life for many african americans we need to help them in their communities. We literally need to walk into their communities and provide hard work. Wood for decks, home improvements, laborers willing to donate their time, businesses willing to donate excess materials to help rebuild the infrastructure, etc. Any money should come from good Americans willing to donate. Not the government. It would go a long way to letting these people know that we love them and support them. Like a swarm of locusts, moving into each community, each street, each family, and helping them. Provide them with financial mentors, and mentors for their kids and their schooling. It is a lot of hard work, and not a very complex equation when figuring out how to help people. It certainly doesn't start with big brother government and money.
You doing anything for the next four years? I just might know a job you'd be good at.. Nicely put VS, could not agree more.
